Can't Eject My Lite-on Drive
« on: February 03, 2009, 03:44:00 PM »

Hey!

Search is down (seriuosly I get error all the time)

I followed the N00B_LiteOn_Flash_with_VIA.pdf to try and flash my Lite-on.
Should mention that in the Tutorial it says to remove all VIA sata drivers but if I do that XP doesnt start so I left the viasraid.sys.

I have successfully extracted the key from the lite on, I did this twice (to make sure i got the right key and it matched the second time as well) with the Maximus and spear.

All went well untill I got to the point lite-on erase on the "MTK Flash" tab. I pressed yes the second time and quickly powercycled the drive but did not get status 72 after pressing "device ID" I tried alot of times and after a while I thought I'd do it all over again so I exited JungleFlasher.

But now every time I start the drive with the Maximus xtractor the PC hangs, and the wierd thing is that I can't eject/close the drive with the extractor (nor anything else) either.

What now?
Any advice is highly appreciated

Don't worry lots of people are having this problem
You need to flash your drive in DOS

Make a DOS bootable USB stick using iPrep

Download the file ixtreme15.RAR from team-xecuter.com

Open up the file and extract the folder DOS
Put the contents of the DOS folder into the root of your bootable USB stick
Copy your created hacked.bin ( or whatever you have named it ) file into your bootable USB stick

Now turn Off your drive

Load up your newly made DOS bootable USB stick
Wait for the C: or A: to appear
At the prompt type in L-O-eras.exe ( address of your sATA card )

For example   ----->   L-O-eras.exe 9000

Before you press Enter turn On the drive

Press Enter, it should say FF80 or FFFF
Type in L-O-eras.exe ( sATA card address ) again and press Enter
Should now show FF72 or something with 72 in it

Turn Off the connectivity kit and back On
( this is important or else it’ll say unknown chip type when trying to flash )

Now at the command prompt type dosflash and press Enter

Press N (if it asks) until it asks what number drive you are using
It will then give you options of Write or Erase etc....
Press W for write and it’ll ask for filename

If it says unknown chip type you didn’t power the drive Off/On

Type in the name hacked.bin or whatever you called your modded file
Press Enter and it’ll begin to erase then write the 4 banks
Once it shows a checksum the jobs a good one

Turn off the connectivity kit and reboot windows
Put Xbox back together and test

Update

I just read somwhere that the PC doesn't "hang" it pauses so I thought I'd try reading Device ID again (It pauses all the time and in between it gives me some time to click)

Under "Drive properties" I get the letter "N" under every category.

Now I'm thinking of installing XP on another PC that has an Intel and Gigabyte SATA chipset and try from there.. anyone who can tell if it'll be worth my while?

I don't understand whats with the drive, what state is it in? Is it bricked? Can it be fixed? I have the key so I shouldent be worried... right?

Thanks, I was actually thinking of trying this but I don't have a seril cable, I'll have to buy one tomorrow.

Quick question. I don't have a hacked.bin is this the dummy.bin file? or how do I make it using the original files I extracted

thanks again!
Now I'll be able to sleep tonight

If you still have the following files you can remake your hacked.bin file using JungleFlasher
You need these files:-

Key.bin
Inquiry.bin
Identify.bin

Load up JungleFlasher
Click Load From Dumped Files
Load each file when asked
Then click the Save button and save it as dummy

You will now have a dummy.bin file and it should show your DVD key in the window

Now click Open Target Firmware
Find your ix15-liteon.bin and click open

You should now have in your target DVD key window a key of 55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA55AA

Now click Spoof Source To Target

Now both Keys should be the same
Now click Save to File and name your file hacked

Now you have a file called hacked.bin, which you can flash to your drive

Sweet dreams haha

You can try the paperclip method to manually eject the drive:

1.  Locate the black slider on the right-side on the bottom of the drive (see picture)
2. Use a paper clip or screwdriver to press the slider all the way in
3. The tray should slide or pop out, pull it half-way open

He allready has the dvd key.Just keep the drive closed when erasing and flashing. And after creating your dummy.bin you should check your dummy with this program to see if the serial data is complete drive serial checker.I dont think its neccassary when you are using the new jungleflasher but just check for safety.

You guys have bin most helpfull!

At the moment I'm installing XP on another PC with gigabyte sata just because I can't find a serial cable, nowhere to buy one either (small city)

If I'm not able to flash with this PC either with JF then I'll have to go on Serial-cable hunting (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Btw, how do I find out what the SATA port number is?

In jungleflasher the port was 0xEFA0, is that what I need to type in then?

ToBbErT: I checked the dummy and all looks good with theDSDBFixer, thank you!

Thanks again!

Hmmz but you allready have the key you said........You dont need a serial cable to erase and flash.A serial cable is needed for reading key and a sata cable (ports) needed for erasing and flashing.Just get a power source for your 360 dvd drive and connect your sata cable from the dvd rom to your pc and erase and flash in dos goodluck.

And yes that port number should be correct.

Oh! OK, I thought it needed the serial connection as well, didn't understand why, just assumed it did. I do have the hacked.bin now and will try this right now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) thanx

WohohOOO!!!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) This worked flawless!
I got stuck in the middle of my erasing too. Thank you all for this post.

Some comments for others to help (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

- I had lots of trouble not beeing able to load a valid firmware when making the bootable USB-pen with iPrep. Remember to download the latest iPrep.xml files when making the bootable USB-stick (even though you do not need this for the flashing). Would a bootable MS-DOS disk do the same job, with the DOS folder and the hacked.bin firmware on it? I can only see that it is the DOS-folder files that's beeing used.
I've been using iPrep 0.8 for this operation, where the XML-file do NOT bundle with the installation.

- I too used JungelFlasher for getting out the key, and make my hacked firmware. The port used on the L-O-eras.exe command, is the SATA port used in JungelFlasher (0x1234, without the "0x").

- I was also relieved to know that I only need the SATA cable to do the flashing procedure. The DOS procedure was way easier to use than the JF. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks again guys (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

+1!

This happened AGAIN with a 2nd lite on I have tried to flash. Each drive was done on a different chipset and both were down on different computers/OS's and BOTH still done this.

Dos is definitely the way to go!

From now on I'll read the key in JF and just erase/write the fw in dos, way easier.
