Trying To Flash A Samsung H943 Ms25
« on: January 25, 2009, 07:45:00 PM »

I've been trying to flash my samsung drive for the past couple days, and im pretty sure im doing everything right.
Im using iPrep 8.008 or whatever the latest one is, iXtreme 1.5, using the NTFS4DOS CD method because my computer can't boot off of USB.
So i get everything set up using iPrep and boot off of the NTFS4DOS cd, and get into the iprep directory, power on my 360 and then plug in the drive to the computer, type in dSam ******* ***** (The astericks being my serial number) and my drive shows up in the list of drives, everything seems ok so far, i select the drive number, type in SamOFW.bin for the firmware dump, and it starts reading the drives firmware, but it sits at "Reading Bank 0..." forever. I've let it sit overnight before to wake up to the same thing, idk if it's my drive or my computer, but anyone got any ideas? Am i doing anything wrong?

You should use Jungle Flasher since you cant boot to USB. What is happening is iprep is attempting to dump your original firmware to the CD and iprep cant do that. It can put the file on a USB drive but iprep doesnt have burning capabilities. The NTFS4DOS CD boot method you are using is for erasing/flashing firmware only not reading/dumping it.

Samsung drives are very simple to flash using Jungle Flasher. If you would like me to explain the process let me know.

try going backwards to an older version of iprep.  like v.006 etc newest version is a bit buggy.

okay hold on...

1.Connect your 360 drive to your PC however you do it (CK3/Xtractor/Xbox itself)
2.Boot into windows and open up Jungle Flasher.(I use the .26 beta)
3.Click the 'MTK Flash 32' Tab and ensure that your samsung is detected under 'Drive properties'.
4.Click 'Sammy-Un-Lock' and wait for the 'done!' message in the white box.
5.Click Device ID and wait for it to fill up the 'Flash Chip properties' area
6.Click 'Read' and it will read the original firmware and ask you to save it.(Do this a few times i.e. orig.bin, orig2.bin, orig3.bin. Compare the key in each one using step 7)
7.Click the 'Firm Tool 32' Tab and your original firmware should be open in 'Source' if its not click 'Load f/w image' find your orig.bin and open it up.
8.Click 'Open Target Firmware'. Go to the ixtreme 1.5 folder click the ix15-sam.bin and open it.
9.Click 'spoof source to target ' and then 'save to file' and name it samcfw.bin(this is your sammy ixtrem15 fw)
10.Go back to the 'MTK Flash 32' Tab click 'erase' wait for it to erase and verify then click flash and when its done test it.

If its a full red ring then check your a/v cable and power cable it will give you red ring if its not plugged in all the way.( ...I have made that mistake before lol)

Thanks for this tutorial man, I'm gonna try it out now (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I'm a tech guy, I'm fine with command lines and whatnot, but none of the tutorials explain WHAT it is I'm doing!  I need intuitive steps, and although this isn't all intuitive, it's on a gui which helps much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'll report back later with results.
