I think something went wrong with flashing.The tray only needs to be half way in when reading the key!Erase and flash the dvd-rom again with the tray closed.

You my friend have plugged in the power cable to the dvd drive the wrong way round when you were flashing it and have fried something.
Take a look at the light in the middle of the ring of lights. Its flashing constantly meaning no valid xbox360 dvd drive is connected.
