Note to all: Dont use Xtractor reader as them dump files cannot return all cdb responsed from liteon files(incorrect dummy.bin), it will work but could lead to detection in the future.
If you have, dont worry you can now hex edit dummy.bin (see http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=674949)
Better still, use Jungle Flash, DVDkey32 or Dosflash0.7

Please read the full tutorial before commenting. I there is no step to generate the dummy with the files from xtractor reader. You just use it for the compare...then I tell you to delete the files from xtractor reader....

Thanks!

It was not a stab at your tutorial. It was trying to help users such as saqr who now are using incomplete firmware as your tutorial does not state that it will not be a valid dummy from xreader. Many users may not see the point of switchin applications if it can all be done in xtractor reader, so it was a heads up not to use it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

If I got the files (Identify.bin,Inquiry.bin,Key.bin,Dummy.bin) by DVDKEY32, it is possible to flash back the original firmware to the Liteon DVD rom?

So I need is this? http://www.diygadget...b9/prod_42.html

I won't need any extra wires, except the sata to connect the drive to the pc, which is in the 360. and the power cord, which is also in the 360. right?

and just wondering, how does the diygadget power itself?

Yes thats correct, thats all you will need. The link you posted is exactly what I bought. It has 2 parts there. The green board is the connectivity board which powers the drive...You plug a molex cable from your pc into it. The other part is the key reader half. That kit there is all you need smile.gif

I'm in South Africa so all shipping from international sellers takes 3 weeks. Also when I buy anything from ebay I wait 3 weeks. Kinda sux but you get used to it...

And yeah, I did it b1tch :-)

Thanks a lot dude. Your tutorial was excellent from start to finish. Its aptly named "for dummies". I used your method as doing in DOS somehow is much more safer (at least appears to be) method.

Once again thanks a lot and hats of for writing such a fine guide.

I've followed this tutorial precisely so far but can't retrieve the key from either method. I have a DIYGADGET Solderless Adapter and am using the Xbox itself as the power source. Does anyone know where to put the alligator clip at so I can retrieve the key?
