Invalid Key In Dosflash, Valid In Dvdkey (liteon)
« on: January 14, 2009, 10:01:00 AM »

Im trying to get a correct dummy.bin with dosflash16.

I managed to get the key with dvdkey (dos) a thousand times, ie the key extractor is working.

But dosflash keeps telling me "invalid key" regardless of which com port i choose (1 to 4). dosflash is obviously not detecting the com port at all.

Is there any way to fix this?

pc specs:
asus p5wdh
gigabyte 965 dq6
com port set to irq 03f8

Why you trying to dump the key with Dosflash if you have it via dvdkey?

As you told me in another thread only dummy.bins created by dosflash/jf/dvdkey32 are valid.

if you can get the files from windows use them, after you have dumped them several times and compared them.

what are you using to dump the keys, a ck3, extractor or a homemade rs232 adaptor? and how is it connected to the pc?

what sata card are you using ?

Im using the onboard intel chipset ich7 and 8.
The extractor is homemade but fully functional (dvdkey16 works every time), rs232 is connected to com1 (only one comport)

Get the id/iq/key.bin's using dvdkey then back in windows use JF load them in and it will save dummy.bin for you. Then use either JF or firmtool to make your new firmware. I made a little PDF www.tinyurl#com/liteon-dos-jan-jt1 give that a try. Look at the end of section two. I found if I used dvdkey, kept r707 bridged then loaded up dosflash once ive allready read in dvdkey it would work fine!

And make sure you have the right version stated in section 1.
Some people say to use dvdkey32 and firmtool some pople say otherwise its all guesswork at the moment to the implications of differnt software to make dummy.bin have a look around:
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...p=4415122&#

DVDkey16 makes id/iq/key
DVDkey32 makes id/iq/key/dummy
DosFlash makes id/iq/key/dummy

I used maximus reader for my orig dumps. Therefore I suppose im missing data so I cannot check each method to work out conflicts. So for me if I make a dump with any of the above i get an incomplete serial information error when importing my dummy.bin to firmtool. If somone wants to check maybe? Do a dump from dvdkey16/32/dosflash then run 32 and dosflash through firmtool and check the output. Then make dummy.bin using jf for dvdkey16 and see what the score is there. But it would have to be from a new drive im guessing.

If you create id, inq, key bin with dvdkey16 and then use firmtool to create the dummy.bin, you get the warning message "lite-on serial seems to be partially incomplete".

I somehow managed to get dosflash working. I tried running dvdkey and then dosflash as suggested by JamieThompson (thanks). Maybe that did the trick?! With the dosflash dummy.bin i dont get the warning message i mentioned above.

Ergo you HAVE TO use jf/dvdkey32/dosflash to get a correctly spoofed firmware including the drive serial.

Thanks to all posters!
