Homemade Serial Circuit Liteon Problems
« on: January 14, 2009, 05:04:00 AM »

So I can't find my drive in windows or in dos.  I can find it in BIOS.  My probe reads things in realterm, but it reads 0000's and letters whether the drive is open or closed.  When I try to get a key, it gives me 00000's.  I'm getting 0000's in the other files as well.  PortIO32 is installed.

I'm reading that my sata chipset is vital to reading files, but...Is my chipset vital in readiing the key?  in windows and/or in dos?

If it's not vital than my circuit is bad and i may need to rebuild it, or buy a reader.  If it is then I need to buy a vis card?

Thanks for any help...

If your drive key is 000000000 = Your tray is not half way correctly (probably too much in or you didn't press eject on the CK3 and push the tray half way in manually)

Is your drive detected in Xtractor Reader?

1> Then shutdown your PC and unplug it from the wall.
2> Connect the sata cable and connectivity kit power cable to the liteon dvd drive. Also connect your reader to the com port of your pc with teh serial cable or directly. (DO NOT USE A USB CABLE)
3> Plug pc in and turn on the pc. The xbox360 drive should power on aswell.
4> Now run XtractorReader.exe and click "Search All Sata Ports and Scan for 360 Drives", "Yes", "Yes".

Then you should end up with something like this:

Click "Yes" then you should see the following:

Thanks for the help you two, but I built a circuit from this Liteon Key For Free!, how to dump your liteon using salvaged parts Thread

I'm using a homemade circuit. Not a retail modding device.  I'm wondering if my on-board sata is giving me a problem pulling my key or just the inquiry/indentify bins?

It doesn't matter that you not using a retail modding device. A friend built one from that topic, he did as I suggested (same thing I told you) and he got his flashed with no issue...

OK, Awesome!  I can find my drive in Xtractor Reaader as you said.  It says I'm on port 970.  But when I'm using jungleflasher it says my port is 0970 not 970.  Which is right?  And...Now What?

Thanks!

Cool. Now try and read the key with the following process in Xtractor Reader:

1> Eject the drive tray.
2> Disconnect power from the drive.
3> Push the tray half way in.
4> Reconnect power from the drive.
5> Connect the probe then click on "Get Key And Files".

Or try the following:

1> Eject the drive tray.
2> Disconnect power from the drive.
3> Push the tray half way in.
4> Reconnect power from the drive.
5> Then open a command prompt window and browse to the DVDKey32 folder.
6> Connect the probe then type the following: "DVDKey32.exe SATAPORT COMPORT" eg:  "DVDKey32.exe 0970 1" and press enter.

It should attempt to read the key.

So.....

I went ahead and continued with Xtractor reader and retrieved the key and other files.  It worked immediately.  Holy Crap!  Going to do it a few times to check, but I can't believe I've been on this step for 2 days and using Xtractor reader is what I needed, not jungleflasher, dvdkey, or dosflash.

Wait! Before you erase you need to read the key with DVDKey32. Xtractor Reader does not generate a Dummy.bin file and should not be used to generate required files for flashing. It's just there to prove your setup it correctly configured and that there are no issues with your pc or your kit.

So please dump it twice with Xtractor Reader and twice with DVDKey32 before you continue. Once you done, post here.

Wow...Just...Wow!

So I grabbed files with both Dvdkey32 and Jungleflasher.  I'll make sure they're legit before I go farther.

Overall my problem was not knowing what port to use.  Also I was connected to sata port 2 which is a slave on my controller which may have caused issues.?.?.?

JungleFlasher needed me to do the half-open trick before I ran the exe for it to see the drive.  After I did that it listed it plain as day.

Anyways...I'm Freakin' Psyched!

Cool. Glad you making progress/1

But before you erase please do a binary compare of the following 3 files:

Start > Run > cmd > Browse to the folder with the files and use:
fc.exe /b file1 file2   eg: fc.exe /b key-xtractor.bin key-dvdkey.bin

Ones from Xtractor Reader:
Key.bin
Inquiry.bin
Identify.bin

with the ones from DVDKey32:
Key.bin
Inquiry.bin
Identify.bin

Then compare the Dummy.bin from DVDKey32 and the Dummy.bin from JungleFlasher.

Please post your results (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

So the Key, Inquiry, Identify files all match.

However my Dummy files don't match.  The Dvdkey Dummy was made in Dvdkey32, while the Xtractor Dummy was made in jungleflasher.  Should I use the Dvdkey Dummy i assume?

Good news that those 3 files matched.

Now onto the Dummy.bin:

Did you dump the entire key from JungleFlasher or did you use the 3 files from Xtractor Reader? You must not use files from Xtractor Reader because they do not contain all the required responses to build a valid Dummy.bin file.

Rather dump the complete key from jungleflasher and compare that Dummy.bin to the one from DVDKey32.

So Dvdkey jungleflash dummies still don't match. I even regrabbed the jungle flash files.  However, the key/inquiry/identify files still match.

I assume I move onto firmtool?  When I use firmtool, after it is done, I used the hacked firmware not the dummy right?  The hacked firmed has the dummy info injected into it?

Sweetness!

Went ahead and used jungleflasher to finish the flash.  Worked perfectly!

Thanks Rick Man!  Seriously!  Thanks!
