1. Turn on ck3, eject, turn off ck3, push halfway in, turn on ck3, read key

Don't turn it off after ejecting(worked for me)...and make sure the black cable is coming out of the dvd drive end of the power cable.

That is the way to read the key. Is your drive even detected in windows? Use Maximus Xtractor and scan all ports for xbox360 drives. Post a print screen of the results...

So those are images of the sata port test, comport test, dvdkey & maximus key read test respectively.  Any insight?  And I've also tried pushing in the drive halfway without turning off ck3, turn off ck3, turn on ck3, test key.

How many options do you have in the list of com ports?

I also noticed that when I use the usb on my ck3pro, the probe would always be lit green.  When I changed to the serial port connection, the probe works as normal where it only turns green when it is touching the r707 hole.  Is that normal or is my probe broken?

Have you tried using dosflash? I wrote a guide here PDF: http://sn.im/liteon-dos-jt1 might help you. Make sure you spear is connected the right way around to your CK3. Sometimes it is requires a few attempts to read. Using maximus do the timed read this gives you 8 seconds. I know its daft but double check your connected to the r707 pot.

Also if your using DVDkey32 you want to use 0.7 which will create dummy.bin for you also.

Does dosflash only work for windows 98 computers?  Because I use xp and I can't reformat this computer.

I'm having the same problem as you

one of my computers wont even detect drive in windows but does in DOS

The other detects it in DOS and Windows, it also sees my usb serial port

but ALWAYS GET BAD KEY, yes I ejected, turned off, pushed in and turned back on

Also tried serial cable to com 1

Same thing in dos, bad key

Maybe its a bad ck3?

I thought the probe wasnt touching well so I put a needle in the r707 hole and attached probe to it but still no key

is definitely something wrong in the serial part, but it has to be the ck3 since both usb and com 1 did not produce a good key

No you can create a usb dos boot disk. This will work on any operating system.

& Remember drive is half way in not all the way, also use com port in dos instead of usb!

Try reading in dvdkey in dos if that gets a key straight after without moving the probe run dvdkey liteon k
that should work! (more details in pdf).

Okay, I'll give it a try but where can I get the dos boot up disk and other stuff you mention in your pdf?  I know you mentioned xbins but I joined their IRC channel and tried to do a !list but it gave me nothing.  Is there another place where I can get the files?

Google for "automated xbins 2008". You should find a download link in the results page...

I downloaded the new version of dvkey32, version 0.7.  I was using 0.6 before and I get a different error now.

IPB Image

It just hangs at the 20 second part and I also noticed that the inquiry string is blank and those parts popped up immediately after I hit enter.  With 0.6 it would take a bit before it would spit out the identity and inquiry string.  Anyone know what's up with that?

So I just pulled out my old computer with a 32 bit processor and gave that a try and I get similar results.  Does it matter what kind of processor I use?

I was reading your guide JamieThompson and I noticed that I need a hacked.bin file.  Where do I get that?  I don't think it's under any of the files that you listed to download.
