Lost Dvd Key For 360 Drive.
« on: January 05, 2009, 10:48:00 PM »

Ok so my dumb arse accidently forgot to backup the firmware on my drive before flashing it due to smoking pot before hand. So anywho there has got to be a way to get the dvd key off the motherboard of the 360 itself. Im aware at the moment that there is no way to retrieve it, but im posting anyways so that if there is a work around eventually you can post it here. Or just have discussion about the issue itself. God this really sucks though ive flashed 10 boxes for friends and all of them are working great and i just happened to make a bonehead mistake while flashing one buddies so I had to give him my box.

This same question gets asked a few times every day and I am sure if this can be done in a few years this thread will long since be history.

1 years ago I also I had to buy one console. Due to stupid accident - I plugged in power cable of the drive with wrong side. And the drive finally died by reason of incorrect voltage. And it was happen before I extracted the keys....
Is that really impossible to extract the keys right from motherboard?
If that question had discussed already - please give me link!

If you fry your drive you can still recover your key.  You have to have a programmer.  I recover keys for people who fry their drives all the time.

Why should people do more research and develop more stuff for people not taking their time and being stupid?

you need a willam programer and a drive with a flash chip not lite-on
getting the chip off is easer then putting them back on anyone should beable to do it!
take a heatgun and heat up around the chip just like you would on the gpu with the 3rrod fix

once the solder on the legs melts lift the chip off the board then pop it into the programer to read the key

LiteOn DG16D2S.

you cant dump the lite-on with a programer it doesnt have the chip

how is your drive dead if u used dvdkey to dump the dummpy.bin before it failed after erase the drive isnt dead just blank

use the dummy.bin to make ur fw and flash in real dos unless you lost the backup from the lite-on then u have no chance

if you killed the drive some how like shorting it out you wont have a chance unless it can be repaired i havent looked close up at the lite-on board but it may have surface mount caps that blow and could be replaced hopefully the main mt1319l holding the data wont be fried

if you cant test or replace surface mount caps take the board to a tv repair guy and ask him to test it
