I appreciate your work creating these bat files, but personally I prefer to type everything manually so I know exactly whats happening.

if people can't type firmtool orig.bin ix15xxxx.bin then they should pay someone to mod it for them as they are too retarded.

I love batch files like these (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I hate using windows based flashers and doing multiple per day without such batch files is tedious. Great work!!

By the way the JungleFlasher has frozen on me 3 times, once during verify which wasn't a problem, but also twice during writing, which killed 2 Liteon drives (this is why I hate windows based flashers). Anyway.. if anyone in Australia has any spare Liteon drives available please PM me or email through my website at XPunked.com

Can't you use DOSFlash32 1.7 to erase them again? Have you already tried?

XPunked....

Try using  DOS (Not a Command Prompt window) , L-O-Eras should erase the firmware and DosFlash 1.7 should write the firmware.
They work fine for me on a floppy disc.

JPaul2442....

These 2 images should make building and using an RS232 to TTL converter much easier as I've removed all unnessecary data lines from the schematic.

(IMG:http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l24/toxickiwi/DG-16D2SRS232toTTLConverter.gif)

(IMG:http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l24/toxickiwi/DG-16D2STxFIX.jpg)

You need...

1x Maxim MAX232CPE chip
1x 16pin IC socket
1x small prototype board on which to build your converter
4x 1uF 16V capacitors
1x DB9 socket
Hook-Up wire

Make the "RS232 to TTL converter" (+) circuit taking care to get polarity correct for the capacitor
Make the "RS232 to TTL converter" GND circuit taking care to get polarity correct for the capacitor
Add the C1 and C2 capacitors taking care to get polarity correct
Connect (+) of "RS232 to TTL converter" to 3.3v (+) LiteOn  circuit as shown in lower image
Connect GND of "RS232 to TTL converter" to GND on LiteOn circuit board as shown in lower image
Rebuild the Tx circuit on the LiteOn PCB or use the "Tx via" as shown in lower image
Connect rebuilt LiteOn Tx point to T1.In of the Max232 chip.
Connect T1.Out to Pin 3 of the DB9 socket.

If you work through 1 line at a time it's very easy to follow.

Cheers

I'm wondering if this can be used/adapted to flash liteon drives

(IMG:http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2303/p3170367sb2.th.jpg)

It's used to flash mediatek based divx player using mtktool
Also, the player already gives 3v for the chip when turned on. It might be used for litons?

hey exobex,

i want to put the batch files on my bootable usb stick with my x360sam files, but i prefer each set of batch files in its own folder structure(samhack, benhack & lithack folders with separate backup folder inside each). this way i can have evertything on one bootable disk and keep my drive backup bins separated by model at the same time. i already know how to edit the batch files for the folder structure i prefer...

my questions: do i need a dosflash.typ file to accompany the dflash13 executable inside of the new benhack folder i am creating? assuming i do need it, can i copy the dosflash.typ that was included with your batch files or should i grab the dosflash.typ from the older version of dosflash (v1.3) in "the usual places"?

your release does not have a dflash13.typ so i guess i should not need a specific dosflash.typ file, but it doesnt hurt to ask/clarify for myself(& possibly others).

thanks for this great release of batch files(including x360sam)!

If you remove the @echo off line from the top of each batch file you'll see what it's doing as it does it.  Alternatively, put @echo on before the lines you want to watch, and @echo off after them, with an additional "pause" on the next line if you want one.  Makes things a bit easier to see, with echo off it can get very cluttered!

And that one single, simple line does the whole lot, does it?  Does it read the firmware, apply the patch, erase the drive and flash it back again, all in that one little line?  Wow, I've wasted my time haven't I? dry.gif
I can run that line if I choose to, together with the dosflash lines before and after (typing in the names of all the files I need to read and write, of course).  I choose not to.  Less to type, less to typo.

DFLASH13.EXE and DOSFLASH.EXE both use the same DOSFLASH.TYP file.  If you separate BenQ and LiteOn batch files, put a copy with each, and a copy of FIRMTOOL.EXE too.
Alternatively, leave the batch files in one place and edit them as follows:-
In all of the BENxxxxx.BAT files, search and replace all instances of BACKUPS\ with BENQ\
In all of the LITxxxxx.BAT files, search and replace all instances of BACKUPS\ with LITEON\
In all of the SAMxxxxx.BAT files, search and replace all instances of BACKUPS\ with SAMSUNG\
You'll also have to create customised versions of MAKEFOLD.BAT and WIPEFIRM.BAT to go with each, plus another set if you want to create/delete Hitachi folders.

I personally find it easier to have a single BACKUPS folder, as I can find the correct folder straight away instead of having to hunt through four separate trees.  Finding another similar firmware if you need one is easy, just check the other folders in the same (or roughly the same) production week folder (the 5 digit one).

thanks for the fast reply.

i have kept the same folder structure for backups and the hacked firmware inside each of the drive model folders i created so those other changes were not required here... this all makes it easier for me personally to burn a cd with the required files for each customer's drive that i flash. no sense in sending them only the extracted files when i can offer the same software tools i used for flashing.

i am pretty sure that everything will work as it is supposed to now. thanks again for the release of batch files!!

Shouldn't that be a MAX3232CPE, the 3.3V version?

As far as I know both MAX3232 and MAX232 works the same way (both being RS-232 drivers/receivers) and seem to have the same pin-laout.

There are a few differences between them, mainly:
MAX3232 can handle 3.3-5.5v power where MAX232 works with 5v only.
MAX3232 uses 0.1 micro farad capacitors where MAX232 uses 1 micro farad capacitors.

I've seen schematics with both these circuits and all should work as long as people don't mix them up.

Whichever software you use, to read LiteOn keys you need either a Maximus 360 Xtractor, a CK3 (Lite or Pro) or a home-made reader.

I use a Maximus 360 Xtractor with the Spear add-on, bought from Modchip Central.  Looks and feels very well built compared to the connectivity kit I used to use on the older drives (it had a dodgy button so the power light kept going out, plus I had to insulate the bottom to avoid shorting it out on the case - the Maximus one comes with insulating foam on the base).

The Maximus one also puts Hitachi drives upto and including 59DJ into ModeB automatically, no need for a switch.

You will always need a hardware reader of some kind to get the key from a liteon drive, so stop dreaming about a full software solution and start soldering one smile.gif It's not hard at all to build one and it involves only a few components that are really cheap. When you have got the proper key, the rest is pure software.
