have you tried running l-o-eras several times without power cycling the pc or drive , if you still cant get the correct status try flashing anyway and see.

try powering up the 360 drive at the same time as your pc as well just in case your sat1 isnt recognising it.

is the tray still in the half open position, i dont know if it matters but i leave it like that from when i read the key till i have sucesfully flashed

my via vard can be touchy about returning the correct status but usually the second attempt at erasing it goes and i have got dosflash to pick it up by retying that and tryin yes and no to resending mtk codes question. i flash using the dosflash package thas included in the ix15 package and read the key with jungleflasher

there has been a newer version of dosflah32 relesed siince the firmware, you could try that or jungleflsher with port io drivers properly installed as suggested.

I got the same problem, did all this work for nothing, including making the circuit to get the key. After that long process of researching and soldering resistors, i get all the way up to erasing the chip in dosflash16, and now I got a dead drive and a usless 360. My sata port does not even recognize the drive anymore. This sucks.

I figure it out and fixed my somewhat brick drive.

This is what I do to flash. I did a second 360.

Put the drive back together because you dont need it open anymore after retreiving the key.

Boot dos off a usb thumb drive that has dosflash, hacked.bin(CFW_lite.bin) and L-O-erase on the root.

Typed dosflash to get port address of the drive.(Already knew it from retrieving key earlier)

Hit 'Ctrl+c' to get out of dosflash.

Typed 'L-O-erase E080'(E080 is the port for the drive)

It erases, I got FF07(guess that means it erases)

Then I erased it a second time to make sure and got another funky number. You know the drive is erased when it wont eject.

Turned power to the drive off, then back on again(the drive is dead)

Typed dosflash. It did not see the the drive, but I typed the port that I knew the drive was on anyway.

It asked me what I wanted to do so I typed a 'w' for write.

Then it asked me for the file. I typed my file which was 'hacked.bin'. Dont forget to put '.bin' like I did a few times.

Then it proceeded to erase and wrote all four banks.

I dont know if you can skip l-o-erase and just use dosflash and type 'w', but i will try on my next 360. But i know for sure that l-o-erase comepletly erased my drive and allowed dosflash to work on what I thought was a bricked drive.

I got my key and made the hacked firmware easily with xtractor + jungleflasher. But after an erase attempt, things went haywire. I tried dosflash which fixed everything (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).Btw, its to be noted that my drive would not respond to eject attempts, here's what I did:

1) Open iprep, create bootable disk for benq (yes, benq).
2) Open usb key, remove unneeded benq files, copy on the dosflash, L-O-Eras, DosFlash.typ and Lite_CFW.bin(Hacked lite-on firmware made with jungleflasher).
3) Reboot pc and disconnect xtractor kit (or whatever you have) from molex and reconnect everything again.
4) Select your usb key from the boot menu and let it load up.
5) Type in l-o-eras XXXX, where XXXX is your SATA port, example: EC00.
6) Repeat command until you get the status: 00x72, this indicates that it is erased. You may need to try this command a few times (TIP: Hold F1 so that command is re-written automatically)
7) type dosflash, read on screen instructions. Use the w command to write, it will then ask you for the firmware filename.
8) My hacked firmware is called lite_cfw.bin so I type this in and it writes all 4 banks.

Success (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
