ok, last question: once I dump the keys, can i use the 360's lite-on power supply cable to power the lite-on, and still flash it while the drive is connected to the pc using a sata port?
I think its absolutely incredible that you just asked this question AGAIN. Everyone just went through the motions of explaining that you will have everything you need if you buy the CK3 + probe, yet there seems to be a missing piece of the puzzle for you.
Just because I find it funny, I'm gunna try my hand at settling this!
You say you intend to buy the CK3 and probe.
The Connection Kit is intended to power your lite-on through a spare internal molex power connection from your pc. If you don't have a spare, then disconnect something like your dvdrom.
The part you just aren't getting is... if you manage to dump your keys from the drive, that would mean you have already connected power to it. So... that would mean... as long as you don't touch anything... you will still have power going to the lite-on for the flashing step. Magic!
The only reason you would use your 360 to power the drive is if you do not want to buy the CK3 kit. Meaning you will not have a nice adapter and would need to use the 360 pretty much as a power supply for the time being.
Funny thing here is...I'm 100% noob right now. I just got my box today and have been reading for the last couple days, and I can explain this. I'm going to get the elite360 probe and THATS IT. I don't mind using the 360 to power it for now and I have a nice native onboard sata on an intel board. That tutorial video on the elite360 site looks incredibly simple.
