If I have an already flashed BenQ 1.4 I just use this firmware as normal? I mean do I have to use thing Jungle software thing? Can I just put this 1.5 firmware on a floppy disk and update like I did before? You know the whole dben fben DOS routine?

You can use the old method... It works fine.

Ok my first flash attempt of the liteon worked in windows no problem with jungleflasher great, 2nd try with another liteon it just freezes after erase like other people have said, anyway if i were to remove the via driver 6421, this may stop the freeze because of installing the port32 i/o driver which i already have anyway, but what i was wondering would it stop me gettting key from benq or sammy drives ??

hey guys.  Iv  got a samsung ms28 drive spoofed as a lite on (ixtreme 1.4).  How would i go about updating this?

Oh, and another quick question.  If i already have the inquiry/identity/key,bin files from my lite on, do i need a spear or any solcering or can i do it all by SATA?

Thanks!,

You can use the .bin files you mentioned there mate to create the dummy.bin using jungleflasher, then hack it. Erase the fw and flash the lite on with the hacked.bin and throw it back in the 360 and away you go..

Hey mate, you can use iPrep 006 to do this... I have done it today, I like 006 much better also! I dont really understand the benefits of upgrading either but figured hell i'm on holiday with not to much to do so why not upgrade? smile.gif

Same situation here. Wondering if I should upgrade. I dont see the reason for it yet. I think im gonna wait till Hitachi owners get thier fw too before I upgrade all my systems.

I had the problem that vista hangs when i tried to start the jungleflash tool. I downloaded and installed "NET Compact Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 Redistributable" from  http://www.microsoft...;DisplayLang=en and after that its working ok. So if you are having this problem try this.

I have one question, are the new 1.5 firmwares only useful if I want to spoof a samsung or benq into a lite-on?

What about if i have a benq and want it to be hacked and leave it as a benq ? Are there any reasons why I should swith from 1.4 to 1.5 ?

Thanks!

Apparently the 1.4 and 1.41 firmwares for the BenQ made games have crappier read times, GTA4 being the best example. This newer firmware is supposed to help fix the problem, though not entirely. Read times should be improved.

From what I've heard, deleting the VIA 6421 driver which is located in your Windows > System32 > Drivers folder under the name "viamraid" will solve your freezing issue. However, there will be an annoying "Found New Hardware" every 3 seconds and reboot. Shouldn't matter because once you're done flashing the Liteon you can just reinstall the drivers to use with other drives.

The first time I flashed my lite-on with my via card, jungleflasher worked great. No problems. But then I wanted to do a video tutorial so I tried re-flashing it. It started freezing after the erase. I tried every configuration of drivers that I could think of, but it would still freeze after the erase. I had downloaded the latest version of dosflash and I was reading the readme that came with it and it said that on the erase, you need to use a seperate power supply or the drive would most likely return a busy state on erase. So I thought what the heck. I pulled out an old AT power supply hooked everything up, and just for giggles, I used the tray half closed trick too. I used the power supply to power cycle the drive and not my CK3 pro. Well, it worked. Not only was I able to flash that drive again, but 3 more times after that, plus another one of a friends.

Maybe this will help someone having similar troubles.

For those struggling with JF I have created a video tutorial using the DOS tools. I hope this helps if you are stuck.

PS - ensure you use the latest version of Firmtool v 1.3.1

This is the best app ever period.  I got it all done with my homemade setup. I used a max3232 that I ordered from maxim-ic.com.  I used a via6421 card, xeno ck, and windows Xp. I flashed two liteons so far. Each one worked for me on the first try.  I'm starting to like this 32bit env better than the 16bit dos one.

Only hiccup I had was when I did the erase for the liteon in the mtkflash32 section of JF.

I got that "Be patient my young padwann" errror message.  I must admit it's amusing.  To get that sorted just make sure you're not intoxicated like i was at that time.  I didn't see the "LiteOn Erase" button so I accidentally pushed the other Erase button.  No harm no foul though. Because all you get is that Padwan message.

hello, running into a couple of problems here. first, jungle flasher is not recognizing my com port although it is listed just fine in my device manager. also, i did something sutpid and plugged the power from my ck3 into the dvd drive and it fried something a little bit and now the eject button doesn't work. any advice on either of these problems? i am about to reconnect the dvd drive to the xbox to see if it is damaged.

edit: works fine when plugged into 360
