Can I just update my drive (BenQ 1.41) with the new 1.5, like I did from the orginial firmware to 1.41? Or is there a special way?
My way: Making a usb stick bootable with iPrep, and then dump/hack/flash it.
And what's new for the non-LiteOn users? And is it usefull to update to 1.5? Or if 1.41 worked OK, I don't have to switch?
I am currently using 1.41 in my BENQ as well...and I don't think I will upgrade.
But I will provide you some insight, I upgraded my BENQ from like 1.4 IXtreme to IXtreme 1.41 in the past....and you do it just like you normally would. Reason it works like that is because the only thing it needs from your previous firmware is the KEY, which is obviously in the firmware you are currently using on your drive or it wouldn't work. So it just extracts the key from your 1.41 just as it would from factory firmware...then uses that key in your new 1.5fw.
So yes...unless something has changed that I am not aware of...you can flash/overwrite your old firmware with the new one just like you did when you went from original to hacked fw.
