I eject using the ck3 in order to get the unlockcd in.

Is that what you mean? Thanks for helping out - I feel like a right numpty - especially as I do this kind of stuff for a living - just not dvd drives!!!!

You need to eject it AFTER you have played the audio file, and paused it immediatly after the 2nd play
After ejecting, then type 79unlock.exe X

If you would have read the tutorial that comes with it, you could have known

Modeb

Insert Unlock Cd

Play / Pause

eject

79unlock x

trick it closed

dump

patch

flash

This is what I'm doing except I'm using slax to put in modeb instead of modeb app which doesn't work on either of my pc's

it comes up with the error at the 79unlock stage

I have not only read the tutorial but also printed it out and followed it to the letter - every step.

What error do you get?

The order Oggy describes is correct, and works. I've flashed around 10-15 79's with Podgers method so far and all are working fine.

I once got an error too, but that was because I accidently ejected with Toolbox instead of the connectivity kit.

oh, and I also use SLAX for Mode B, works like a charm

If you read podgers guide properly, it does state you will get an error message.

I've only used the tutorial I linked to in my original post - Could you link me to podgers please so I can read that - thanks.

In the tut I linked to its states that on 79unlock it should just return "done"

His original thread has been edited removing it also, probably as Textbook got the done message and it worked.

Even though you receive the error, did you try dumping the firmware in toolbox?

Thanks for the assistance.

update

Drive appear in windows

did the unlockcd - ejected disk

did 79unlock x

it returned done

put 360 game in and pressed eject once on ck3 and then pushed drive in (as per podgers guide)

windows played the dvd - closed that down

went into fw toolbox

tried to raw dump firmware as and get error saying" cannot read from drive"

You can try watching this video tutorial, and see if you are doing anything wrong.

Or running memdump to see if that dumps the firmware.
