The fact you are using a laptop could be the issue, podger said something to me about sata needing to be cardbus not pcmcia for PortIO to work.

Thanks -

I've made some progress - I've run the slax cd and now my drive appears in windows ok.

I've run the unlock cd and now I've hit another snag

When running the 360 firmware toolbox 4.8 and trying the step

direct drive dump gdr only - its giving me an error message

cannot read from drive

How are you ejecting before unlock?

Also, you havent said if you are inserting an original disc into the drive and tricking it closed.... This is essential for FWTB to read the firmware.

Thanks again for the help - it's doing my head in!

I am using a game  - I have also tried a DVD -

To close the drive - I'm using the eject button (press twice) on the CK3

Ejecting before unlock?

Podger advised from the start that you use the 360 to eject.

Podger advised you use the 360 to eject.

Apparently it does something different.

Mine didnt work because I was using a sata hdd, strange but true... So there could be any weird reason its not unlocking.

How does the 360 eject the drive when the data connection is hooked upto the ck3?

If I'm supposed to hook the drive upto the 360 - how can I put it into modeb - as soon as the power is removed from the drive the modeb resets.

Confused.

Im just saying thats what podger advised.

I think I used a CK myself when i tested it - not certain though..

It wouldn't work for me on a sata hdd at all, changed to IDE and it worked first time.
