Ixtreme Lite-on, Conntectivity Kit V3 Lite
« on: December 09, 2008, 12:37:00 PM »

I know you guys must be damned bored of the same old questions, but:

If all I buy is the Xecuter Xbox 360 Connectivity Kit v3 Lite and a VIA VT6421A PCI card, will I be able to successfully install the new iXtreme when it comes out on my Liteon drive WITHOUT any further soldering? I want to buy this all by christmas before the post cut off date.

You will need to buy the solderless add-on, or build you own.

How easy is it to build my own? Don't you just need to bridge those two parts on the board that I saw in a tutorial? Can you use a screwdriver, or use a bit of old wire?

You can do it any way you want. But if you want a reliable method, holding a screwdriver over two blobs of solder is not it.

So what is a good way to do it without soldering, but not with a screw driver? I don't want to buy the extra add on I just don't have the cash...

Use a large pin which fits nicely into the via below R707.

Wire this to the TX point on the CK3

Can I not just bridge these two pins?

IPB Image

I don't see any TX points on the CK3...?

If you do solder it, is it permanent? Aren't you only supposed to leave the bridge there while extracting the key?

You don't have to bridge 708 if you dont' want to.

Regarding 707, you have to bridge that or use the point to get to the serial port on the drive. There are lots of tutorials for both... try READING THE FORUM.

Solder is not permanent, but it's not the easiest to remove if you don't know what you are doing.

Regarding leaving it on. The purpose of the solder is to reconnect the serial port to the cable on the back of the drive (the two non filled pins on the cable)

All you are doing with that joint is making an extension cable of sorts, if you don't have anything plugged into it, it isn't going to matter if you unsolder it or not

Thanks for your reply mate.

So for confirmation, the only thing I need to do on the DVD drive's PCB is bridge the 707?

Why don´t you just pay someone to do it for you? I mean it will probably cost less and you don´t have to bother about the chance of destroying something. Unless you had in mind to do several Lite-Ons

I agree with ^

You can't/wont spend 10 bucks extra, but want to save lots of cash on games with a modded drive?

soldering that R707 is a shitty job if you don't have the right tools (a VERY small solderiron which will cost you a couple of bucks too) and the skills

I agree with previous replies.
Just get someone else to do it and save money and you wont get troubles.

i just ordered the lite version BUT i clicked the more info button which took me to team xectuers site for guides etc..on there it says that the rs232 cable is an optional extra..please tell me the lite version is shipped with the rs232 cable as well. that is the only reason i purchased it lol..i bought from Mr Modchips which clearly shows an rs232 cable on the image of the CK3..

has anyone actualy purchased the lite version and can confirm wether it does come with an rs232 cable included?
