ok guys not sure if i ruined the drive or what but it does not appear to be powering on now. will not eject and no laser activity when powered on with my xtractor 360. note that i had my tx/rx still connected via solder when trying to erase/flash. any ideas would be great and would like to know if tx/rx should be disconnected before erasing/flashing

It does not matter if it is still connected or not.

You still have your dump files correct?

Try using dosflash in real dos to write the hacked firmware.

ok more testing results........3 seperate liteon drives. failed to erase 1st time on all three. now all 3 drives are unresponsive to 360 power or xtractor power. not recognized in windows period(prolly due to not powering up) any ideas?
inspection of all 3 pcbs shows no signs of anything burned up whatsoever. drives will not power on, no eject, no laser activity

FF72 is good

If your drive freezes using Jungletool do this:

1) Make a dos boot disk
2)Copy the insides of the 'dos' folder in Ixtreme 1.5
3)Copy your newly made Ixtreme 1.5 file with your own key inserted to it (rename it IX15.bin for ease)
4) Make sure 'l-o-eras.exe' is in there
5)Boot to dos
6)Type 'l-o-eras.exe' followed by the port number you're using. In my case I wrote 'l-o-eras.exe EC00'

EC00 being my port number

7)Keep retrying untill you get a 'FF72' status after the command
8 ) FF72 = Fully erased drive
(turn power off to the drive and then turn it back on)
9)Type 'Dosflash'
10) Should talk some stuff about MTK Vendors and should find any dvd drives present.
11) Keep pressing 'N' untill you come across your Lite-on (Mine was listed as Unknown Drive on port EC00)
12) Press 'Y' when you get to your Lite-on.
13) It should come up saying a number of options talking about 'W for write' , E for Erase etc.
14) Type 'LITEON W'
15) Should come up saying 'Type the file name of the bin you want to flash'
16) Type 'IX15.bin'
17) Wait and it should flash 4 banks (might say erase again aswell)
18 )Wait for a data checksum

Try this.

Try this.

ranger you are a freaking saviour man. worked like a champ. drive powers on now and all i have to do is test game reading ability. i wanted to share my results with everyone. here is what happened......
when trying to flash a liteon with firmware made from same inq/ident files as what was on it, erase/flash went smoothly. now, when i tried erasing/flashing a drive with firmware made from inq/ident files DIFFERENT than what was originally on the drive, the erase failed every time. this made the drives not power on or respond in any way. i resolved this issue by doing these exact steps:
made bootable stick with iprep ver8
copied all dos files from liteon dg-16d2s/dos to the usb stick
used jungleflasher to prepare ix15.bin with my key and inq/ident files from the 360 i wanted to use
rename the firmware ix15. if you rename it ix15.bin dosflash will not find it, file extension does not need to be part of the name. copied this firmware(ix15) to root and backups folder to be safe
booted stick and typed l-o-eras.exe 9c00 til i got a ff72 reported back
power cycled xtractor and booted dosflash
found my drive(in my case typed the number 10)
typed w for write
chose ix15 for firmware update file
waited for flash to complete and waited to see checksum. i will now test the drive in my 360 and post results. thanks very very much to Ranger for his help.

Your welcome but I didn't really do anything but copy and pasted what WTFudget posted earlier today and added the line about making sure you power off and back on after the erasing part.

I find doing this through dos MUCH better than through Windows. I have done 17 Liteon flashes today and all but the first 2 using the dos method.

I'm not getting any power on it.
And I wasn't erasing or flashing or anything like that, so I really dont know why it stopped turning on at all. I was using xtractor to read the key, I was successful then when I tried doing it again to dump the files I got no reaction from the drive.

yea you wont get any reaction, it also will not show up. try the steps i took and then use dvdkey32 in windows to get ur files.

if i get ff80 more than twice, i power cycle the drive and try again while staying in dos. then try a few more times and eventually you will get ff72. also make sure you have l-o-eras.exe on root of usbkey

can you explain what you mean by power cycle  the drive as I have tried to repower on the drive and I have nothing

what i mean is turn off whatever you are using to power the drive when you are in dos. whether its a 360, xtractor, xecuter ck3, turn it off for 20 seconds and turn it back on. then run l-o-eras.exe xxxx where xxxx is your port number
