Gr8 News.

I just have 1 question. I have just bought the maximus pro and the spear. Is it necassary to have the sata cable plugged in to read the key via the spear and xtractor software over usb? Reason I ask is because i was hopin to read keys on this lappy then erase/write on my via 8237 upstairs.

Tia

Yes you need the sata connected at the same time to get the file. I know usb does get them but the sata also is needed im sure! Get the pcmcia sata via card im sure that would work with the xtractor to, there software scans all ports and will tell you if it finds an xbox 360 drive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I use the xtractor and cant fault it in anyway and the spear.. Cant wait to do my liteon now

the tool kits a waste of money and you could save another tenner making a probe (wire+paperclip),
you dont need a VIA 6421 card for lite-ons , may aswell buy 1  as they're cheap (come with sata cable also), same with a usb stick dont need it for lite-ons.

Cheers mate !

Is there any chance of on early release of a tutorial/instructions for liteon flash ?, I would like to get my head around the process before hand.

it will probably be just like using dosflash. of course you will need the key to be extracted first, then patched into the new firmware.

you just want to peek at it early don't you tongue.gif

Thanks.

Question:

Would it be possible to flash the original firmware back to lite-on drive? I assume we have the the key extracted. I know it is impossible to read the firmware, but what if c4eva's team provides us with the original firmware? Would it work? I mean if we inserted the key into the original firmware.

Just wondering.

if the team release the original firmware than it would be possible to inject te key into it and flash it to the LiteOn.

I don't have a sata card but my mother board has two sata connections.  These should work just fine with any key extractor, right?

It's a 915G chipset in a 4 year old sony desktop.  I'm not sure of the exact model#.

So how do I go by testing the compatibility?
