Yes, it should have no problem.  Just don't mass up with the sata port number.

I still can't seem to get my PC to read the key. I have the IO drivers installed as described above...have my connectivity kit powered. I follow the directions in the Noob.pdf and still no luck. I've already fried one lite-on drive due to connecting the power to the wrong spot, so I'm really anxious to get this right this time around.  ohmy.gif

If you are afraid of this, keep the liteon, flash ixtreme 1.5 on a benq

alright so my original diygadget unit stopped working randomly one day.
not reading the key off of any lite on drive.

i submit a trouble ticket to the company, and they responded by saying that the loopback test "works weird sometimes"

so, i got a replacement while i sent my broken in.
guess what, DOESNT WORK EITHER!!

performed a naked loopback test again, and comport still working fine.
so for the sake of argument, i bought a serial to usb adapter.
tried using that, nope doesn't work either..

sooo...2 defective units in less than a month..
i will be testing the maxim chip today to see if that's the root of the problems..

Well, I cannot believe it.  My old db9 still works fine.  are you srue you have tried them correctly?  the max3232 pcb board is really really simple, it's an classic circuit, it should NOT fail so easily.  And 2 failed units on your hand, you better check something on your side.

Just an update:

Yes!! After sending the defective unit back, I got another one today, and now it works! I knew I did everything right tongue.gif

QUOTE(yavuz @ Jan 2 2009, 03:52 PM) *

I have a question, hope you can answer me.

I have ordered this diygadget thing, and have tried many things, but it doesn't work out. Tried many ways of pushing the tray half way in (with the eject button and then cutting power, pusing in after disconnecting molex, pushing in before disconnecting molex), but I can't seem to read the key.

My setup:
- VIA SATA PCI controller (works fine, can get inquiry.bin and drive identifies correctly)
- onboard COM port
- Xbox 360 Connectivity Kit V2 and Solderless lite-on DVD key extractor non DB9 version (http://www.diygadget.com/store/game-console-adapters/xbox-360-connectivity-kit-v2-and-solderless-lite-on-dvd-key-extractor-non-db9-version/prod_44.html)

Things I have tried (way too many, I'll try to summarize):
- naked loopback test: OK
- loopback test with the adaptor from diygadget.com: OK

However, there is one thing that makes me worry, the loopback test with the adaptor in my computer even completes when my probe is not touching anything. When I hit a key I get the same key echoed back. I opened up in Realterm and both rx and tx light up when I hit a key.

Is there anyone out there who would like to test if this is normal behaviuor?

Thank you in advance.

sorry if this has been asked but what's the difference between the db9 version and the non-db9 version?

Yeah, I believe I have a defective unit as well. Guess I can try getting a replacement, but I don't feel like waiting another 2 weeks and dealing with their crappy customer service. I didn't even get a tracking number with my first kit and they basically said, "There's nothing we can do once we ship it. Thanks."

Like what the heck?
