Use dosflash16 version 1.4 to flash samsung drives.  I don't think you can with dosflash16 version 1.6

dosflash and dosflash32 1.6 support TS drives.. 25 or 28 and with VIA card it should work like butter.

With dosflash 1.6
Make sure it is actually detecting your TS drive and not another optical drive. When it detects the samsung w MS28  hit Y to resend MTK info the power off and right back on. You should be set after that.  It has worked for me using the same hardware too many times to count. If your drive has 25 firmware it will not even ask you to resend vendor. It is detected right away.

With the 32 bit version in windows.. results may vary depending on the drivers.. but the same rules apply. You need at least 530c for your via card.. then when DOSFLASH 32 is disabling your optical drives switch on your TS .. if your computer becomes sluggish .. you may have to experiment turning it on and off at different times
When your TS is detected resend vendor command the power off and right back on..

With both versions you do not need to reboot between reads and writes.. just powercycle-ing between each works

OK - I figured it out and it worked perfectly. This is what I did - After it told me to press "Y" hit enter and turn the drive off then on - 1st: I turned the ck3 off (ck3 power switch), 2nd: I unplugged the power cable from the computer to the ck3, 3rd: unplugged the SATA cable from the drive 4th: plugged the SATA back into the drive, 5th: plugged the computer power cable back to the ck3, 6th: turned on the power to the ck3. After I did these steps it recognized the drive and I was able to write the new fw. I hope this helps all the people who have been having this issue. Thanks.
