I think that's what Reaper527 is trying to say.. the true line is the one saying that there is no release date for 1.5.

We just have to wait it's as simple as that.

/T

yup. that is exactly what i was getting at. but i was wrong, as there is an eta.

according to the #fw topic

Yes... why would i make it up?  That many were required for a few reasons, such as perfecting the decapping process.  I'm sure Iriez will release more info if it is agreed.

Caster.

This type of chip reverse engineering isn't all that rare or all that expensive really.

They've been doing it for MAME for awhile.

The Decapping Project

You don't really understand the difference. Decapping in acid aside, MAME projects are optically reading "simple" maskroms. The challenge here was to attach to 50 micron connection wires as you can see in the photo and read electrically the information.  No specs are published for the piggybacked chip (timings, pin"out", voltage levels). Personally, I'm totally impressed with their work.

rgds,
baltaatje,

its not like they were killing systems. people probably dumped their lite-on key, replaced with a benq/hitachi/samsung drive, and then donated the drive for testing.

with all the RROD machines out there, there are more drives than systems.

Stay away from JungleFlasher!!!! Its evil and it probably killed my LiteOn Drive!!!

Here is what happened - at the moment i am so peeved off i cannot think straight at all!

I followed a guide to use jungleflasher and it all went smoothly until it asked me to erase the existing fw so i did as the guide told me. Ever since then my liteon drive does not respond to spear and extractor as well as making my computer refuse to boot with my liteon drive attached to extractor!!!!

If i remove the power from the drive the pc boots, if i wait until desktop is loaded and all and reconnect the drive the pc freezes! It's like its trying to tell me the drive is dead.

I no longer see the blue led on the spear when i try to read the key off R707 and dosflash32 no longer lists my sata port D800 anymore as well as other programs like liteon erase. All Liteon erase gives me for status is FFFF!

So right now i believe my liteon drive is pretty much dead!!!

True i am grateful to the team for their hardwork and true i knew it was buggy still but it should never have being released if it would cause this much damage!!!
