Via 6421l Sata & Lite-on Drive
« on: November 30, 2008, 09:21:00 PM »

i was updating firmware on a BenQ/Lite-on DVDrom,
i had a connection using my Via 6421L on Sata port 1
if the drive was on while booting, i would get a Raid error.
if the drive was off i got all the way to reading the firmware using iPrep
here's where i hit my issue...  i followed the instructions carefully,
turned the drive on....  on-screen flashed "Status: 0xD1"  & "0x51" non-stopping.
so i turned the drive off,  status stopped @ "Status: 0xD1"
turn the drive back on, and the status went back to flashing back and forth with "0xD2" and "0x52"
am i getting a read error or if i'm doing something wrong could someone point me in the right direction?
Thankz

Your on the right track, read the textbook.

This is from the textbook

CODE

Follow the prompts on the screen, make sure your 360 is OFF and press
any key to continue.  Press Y to resend the MTK Vendor Intro.

•  Turn on the Xbox 360 and wait 2 or more seconds, status toggles
between 0x51 and 0xD1.

•  Turn off the Xbox 360 and wait 2 or more seconds, status will stay at
0xD1.

•  Turn on the Xbox 360, you should get a good drive status 0x73 and
reading should begin automatically.

All 4 banks should read OK and you should get a “Reading finished!”
message with a Datasum.

I've done ALOT of reading since this post,
and have since learned, many people who want to flash a 360 with a liteon drive, end
up swapping the drive and spoofing the key.
so i think my next step is to get ahold of a nice Toshiba/Samsung drive
good to know that my sata card isn't bad..  i thought it just wasn't reading properly lol
thanks for your efforts, and the textbook is very helpful, i keep a copy on my desktop lol
Cheers

I think I figured it out, disconnect everything else from your pc, usually hard drives and the other dvd drives.

If that doesnt work try to instead of waiting 2 seconds wait 10 or 5 seconds and continue.

Wouldn't that make it an almost definite Lite On though? Is the Xbox brand new? Pop open the actual DVD drive and take a pic (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
