Tutorial: Reading / Extracting Your Lite-on Key
« Reply #15 on: November 02, 2008, 01:51:00 AM »

I used your tape and solder suggestion and it worked like a champ.  One thing I had to do is just apply a bit of pressure on the tape to make a good contact when running dvdkey.  I just used my thumbnail on the lump of solder and it read fine.  Otherwise I got a stupid Sega 54 error.

Thanks again.

yes wizard, and stick it away in a cupboard (a good idea is to burn your firmware for that drive to  a cd and stick it in the drive for safe keeping as well.

i have the conectivity kit v1 to get power source to dvd drive, and via card to read firmware.

Where does the serial adaptor come into play-** Requirements ** Hardware Reader - Premade Extractor / Homemade Serial Reader with RS232 Chip in it.

whats the sheap alternative for use with my conectivity kit v1?

I have flashed all previous dvd drives except for the lite-on and the hitachi v79!

I heard that you have a better chance of getting banned from Xbox live if you dont spoof it woth a benq. Is that true?

Also, When I have to Weld the Tx and Rx, do i just use a wire and connect that to my computer? What does it mean by rebuild the Tx and Rx points?

Is there any reason why I can't use some solder to bridge the two points (R707). Will it stop me from using the drive normally or does it not matter since I don't think sticking some solder seems very reliable or it may be but it might be more trouble for me to make sure there's good contact and that the tape holds it in place.

Hello

I read in the 360xtractor manual that you only actually need to bridge R707 for it to be able to read the key. however that didnt seem to work, I also bridged R708 but this didnt seem to work.

there is one confusing thing that I cant figure out. actually theres two.

1) does the bridging have to be done before you power on the drive or can you press the timer button on the software and bridge it while its on.

2) It says to eject the drive then push it back in, when you do that it pulls the drive in automaticly. Do you let it go all the way in or only half way in.

3) Do you actually need serial? the software doesnt seem to indicate anything about serial.

Can someone post a pic or tell me the proper way to plug in drive  the drive power cable that came with the xtractor 360, I'm afraid I might plug it in wrong.
