The target demographic is irrelevant. This tool does nothing new and can leave you with invalid keys.Had the Liteon been flash-able the xtractor would have been responsible for bricking a substantial number of 360s.

This tool is clearly aimed at the average joe who wants to flash his 360. Anybody else would have used the existing bug free tools and methods.

Xtractor Reader = FAIL

Well the update to this tool really helped me out, kinda. I managed to get my files and key with dvdkey32 and inquiry32 but that worked, and then after I did it the hard way I realised that i had the old version of this tool so it was giving me an error, so i just downloaded the new one and tested it and it worked with no errors and read the keys correctly and everything.  I like it it's easy and simple.

Why do you say that, I haven't noticed anything wrong with this and for something I plan on using maybe 5 or 10 times for lite on it isn't that bad i don't presume.  Plus the on/off is great since the connector kit doesn't have it that I used to use.

It doesnt do the hardest part of bridging Tx/Rx IMO, even then the software is still blaming my setup on 2.5.

Run DVDKey0.6 straight after, or 1.2 upon reboot and it works 100%

I dont have to alter my hardware in the slightest.

If you do 10 Im 95% certain you'll hit the bug of:

a ) bad key in 2.3
b ) error blaming YOU in 2.4/2.5

If you feel this have killed your application, then its not scene problem.

Not my app, but you have helped improve it, and are slowly killing your own by refusing to believe the [FAKE]bug is there and its not the 'end user' at fault.

Ok so here is my question is it the TOOL or the Software? Cause I used it on my Lite On >> BenQ and it worked fine as far as I can see. I re flashed a Hitachi 78 also No problems so far. I understand it is a small chance but everything I have tried seems to work pretty good. I used both Max. Software and checked against with dvdkey16 and 32 everything checked out. I dunno seems to work for me, am I missing something?

Not every drive is affected by the [FAKE]bug, but the fact you had to test shows there is no trust for you in the program.

Finally my xtractor Pro arrived yesterday, i had no other hardware to dump Lite-on drives before, so i started working on the many Lite-on drives i had waiting for a week here...

Dumped about 3 drives with the Xtractor Reader 2.5 and swapped drives with everything working perfect, then the fourth drive came in and kept me trying for hours to dump the keys with always the same error message from xtractor reader 2.5 to check my setup ( bridging Tx and Tray half open ).
I was finally desperate on this specific drive , and after some research I arrived to this thread and downloaded DVDkey32 0.6 and..... extracted the damn keys in a matter of seconds also using USB and not serial, eventhough the readme of DVDKey32 dont mention USB support, i gave it a try and it succeeded from the very first attempt....

So this is a 100% proof to me that the problem was the xtractor reader application alone, Thanks for having DVDkey32 to save the situation...

come on guys..fix the Xtractor Reader and let the version 2.6 be the one...
Thanks for all developpers involved and specially Maximus for the nice Xtractor hardware, and Podger and others for the accurate extraction tools..

I had 4 drive's done with the previous version.
One drive wasn't able to read. Tried dvdkey32 and it worked. I tried the new version of xtractor reader and it also worked first try!
My guess is that the problem is pretty much solved.

I also confirm that version 2.6 now works fine, I was able to get the keys of the previous drive that was always giving me the error message using version 2.5, and I also compared and found the exact key extracted with v2.6 as with DVDKey32..

Thanks Maximus, it is now Final (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

download and register mscomm32.dll put it in your system32 directory and register it. Or try installing the VBSP6 runtimes.
