Hi, hope someone can help me with this one. I've flashed 20 or so drives for friends & family and never had any problems (sammys, hitachi ,benq even a few 79's with podgers tutorial).
I was asked today to flash a 2 year old xbox - "no problem", I said (knowing its not going to be a lite-on), but its giving me some problems I've not encountered before.
The drive itself is fine, it has no faults and plays originals as it should. So I stripped down the box hooked the drive up to my VT6421a card in the pc that I've used for all the drives I've flashed, and loaded up slax.
I dont get the usual 'spinning up drive message', and the drive does not go to modeB. I swapped directly for another hitachi 78 drive and this was fine (modeb & recognised in windows).
My motherboard has an Sil 3112 Raid controller on it, I hooked the drive up to that and put in modeB without a problem. Then I switched the sata cable for the one connected to the vt6421a card and booted to windows. The drive is not recognised and the Sata card shows an error in device manager. If I unplug the drive, reboot the pc then the card is fine.
So its not a problem with the card as ive tried a few hdd's and a previously flashed 78fk and they all work fine.
Totaly stumped with this so if anyone a bit more technical than myself has any idea I would be very grateful.
Thanks.
