Problem Detecting Hitachi Dvd Drive
« on: October 13, 2008, 09:36:00 AM »

Hey all.
Decided to flash my 360.

I got a Hitachi ver. 78 dvd drive.

Here is the problem.
I can get into mode-b without a problem with slax.

But when i restart the PC and boot up in windows(Vista 32bit) it won't find the drive.
I ejected the drive a couple of times on the windows load screen and nothing.

I have turned on my SATA-2 port in BIOS.

Does anyone why it won't find the drive in Vista?

Regards.

are you sure it's in mode b?
are you pushing eject once then pushing in the drive and the green light is going crazy?

Yes it's in Mode-b, i push the eject button twice to get it out or in and a third for it to stay in.
Slax can find the drive and turn it to mode-b, Vista just can't find it at all...

I have updated them and still no effect.

Don't know if this helps, i have a Dell computer with onboard SATA RAID controller.
The controller is this one:
Intel® ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller

I can't find any drivers for that one on Intels site so i have upgraded what i could from Dell.
Still Windows can't detect my Hitachi drive, drive model and version:
Hitachi GDR-3120L  /  Ver: 78

Does anyone have a solution, is there a program that can force windows to detect the drive?
