Sammy Spoofed As Benq Won't Play Dvd Movies
« on: September 23, 2008, 06:42:00 PM »

Hello all,
I have a Sammy in my Falcon that is spoofed as the original BenQ with iXtreme 1.4. For whatever reason, games, backups, and avi files on a DVD-R play fine but DVD movies both burned and originals won't play at all.

Is my laser dead? The screen just goes black and it never plays them and won't go back to the dash when I hit the guide button. Any help is appreciated.

Something must have happened to the dashboard, If your drive can read DVD media both burned and pressed your laser is fine. I am betting the farm it is software related and the next dash update will fix it.

Yea avi's work on DVD's as do backups and retail games but nothing with DVD movies. They spin up but the screen stays black and nothing happens. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

Does somebody you know have the 360 HD-DVD and the "install" disk? Thinking it is software related, I am curious to know what would happen if you installed the 360 HD-DVD player and software .

Nope, I don't know anyone with one but it does seem software related if everything else works fine. I looked around but couldn't find any information if this was a known issue.

Have you tried the cache clearing trick yet?  Go to "storage" under settings, select harddrive, hit:

X X Left-Bumper Right-Bumper X X

Probably won't help, but it can't hurt I would think.
