DosFlash 1.5/1.6
Posted by Iriez | September 16 22:58 EST | News Category: Xbox360

A new version of DosFlash(info), a flashing utility for VAD6038 Benq Drives

DosFlash and DosFlash32 V1.5 Beta
-----------------------------------
- now supports serial flash chip MT1309E with mediatek status 0x72 like the SH-D163B, SH-D162D,
  Asus DVD-E616A3, Asus DVD-E818A3, Sony Optiarc DDU1671S
- SST25LF020A and SST25LF040A chip support added
- DosFlash32.exe ported from MFC to plain Windows API, exe size is now 22 KB
- new port i/o driver, because giveio.sys can't be compiled for 64 Bit Windows
- DosFlash16 changed slighly in manual mode, one parameter is added to support SST25LF020A and SST25LF040A
- two new methods of BenQ soft unlock are now possible on all motherboards with only one power supply unit
- 1st method is powered by Geremia's unlock core, thanks for the complete idea, concept and source to Geremia
- 2nd method is the Magic28 key send, this only works on BenQ VAD6038 firmware, thanks to c4eva and podger for the initial idea
- the two unlock methods are send one after the other if the drive is a possible unlock candidate, first the Magic28 command, then Geremia's unlock commands and after that the already known power brute unlock is send to the drive, you can cancel any of these methods before they are send to the target, this only applies to BenQ drives with a locked flash
- DosFlash.typ updated
- other minor improvements
- DosFlash32 is now ready for
  - Windows 2000,Windows XP 32 Bit,Windows XP 64 Bit,Windows Server 2003 32 Bit,Windows Server 2003 64 Bit,Windows Vista 32 Bit,Windows Vista 64 Bit
- Warning: Drivers for Windows Vista 64 Bit need to be signed, because we can't afford the
money to let portio64.sys sign you need to do the following:
  1) Log on as Administrator
  2) Enter the following command in a Dos-Box:
     "bcdedit -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS"
(we made sure there are no typos in the line above) Smiley
  3) Press enter and reboot your PC
  4) Press F8 key upon initial system boot up
  5) Choose to disable forced driver signing enforcement for that boot session

DosFlash and DosFlash32 V1.6 Beta
-----------------------------------
- fixed power brute unlock bug for VIA cards, this can stop your VIA from working with the power brute unlocking in Version 1.5
- for DosFlash16 in auto mode on DOS my VIA card works best if I do a cold boot and power up the drive short before or with the PC
- for DosFlash32 on Windows my VIA card works best if I power up the drive short before starting DosFlash32
- for me the VIA works with internal and external connectors on DOS and Windows

I'm still using an older version to flash Benqs, yet I've never had a problem. Sometimes it takes a while for it to start reading after sending the command (turning off and on for like 15 times until it reads it). Will updating fix this ?

Thanks in advance.

Does this mean you can flash a BenQ from Windows now? Provided you have a VIA 6421 or nForce chipset (I have both)?

brandogg:
It means you can flash it with ANY chipset supported by dosflash..... If you have trouble in windows, the dos version should still work.

Hi.

Is there anywhere any guide for all the commands that i can use to the dosflash 1.6 beta or any full guide that has all the new flash procedures(Include liteon dump key procedure) and the dosflash 1.6 commands.

What is the syntax of the erase command on the dosflash 1.6 because it is the only command it is different in the dosflash 1.3 and different in the 1.4.

a lot of thanks for your time.

Trying to flash an ms28 - but all the windows apps freeze when I switch it on, so I need to use dosflash. The problem is I don't know the commands to use, is there a list or guide of the commands to flash an ms28 (spoofed as liteon) with ix1.5?

I have an iprepped usb stick (008 pro beta) with spoofed firmware on it, but I don't know the switches/commands to flash it!

you could use Iprep 6 , that still have Mtkflash on it (sorry I havent use Dosflash for samsung much)

check iprep site it is still there

or  Faq, Links & Important Threads

then you could call your FW hacked.bin and use the method in the pin Faq: Flashing ms25/ms28 based on mtkflash

still works great for me

Thank you sir, that worked perfectly. For those who have similar questions as me (spoofing ms28 as liteon with ix1.5), here is what I did:

Spoofing MS28 to Lite-on with iXtreme 1.5
1) Gather Lite-on bin files using method of choice, which generates dummy.bin
2) Open JungleFlasher, go to Firmwaretool tab - Load the dummy.bin file you got from your Lite-on dump as source, and the ix15-sam.bin as target.
3) Click spoof source to target. Save that bin as hacked.bin
4) I used iPrep 101 v006, and the latest definitions. I'm not sure you even have to load a firmware, but I did (ix15-sam.bin).
5) I checked Patch mtkflash, selected my SATA port (mine said MTKFLASH & DOSFLASH compatible), and also checked "Format/make device bootable" and then clicked Prepare Destination. (just used this to create usb boot disc with mtkflash in tools folder, will ignore all other files/folders)
6) I then copied hacked.bin onto the USB stick in the /Tools folder (where mtkflash is located)
7) Rebooted with usb stick in drive, and the ms28 connected but powered off (if I turned it on during bootup it was disabled at dos prompt)
9) when Starting windows 98 came on screen, I powered on the drive
10) CD'd into Tools folder

Back up your MS28 firmware (I didn't really have a need to, but I did)
# type mtkflash r /m /sata orig.bin
# list of port will appear (said XTREME in name, although I knew what port from Windows)
# turn off your ms28 drive
# select the port on your PC
# count to 10 and turn your ms28 drive on
# the pc will read the firmware to the orig.bin file

Flash the ix1.5 liteon spoofed firmware:
# type mtkflash w /m /sata hacked.bin
# list of port will appear (said XTREME in name, although I knew what port from Windows)
# turn off your ms28 drive
# select the port on your PC
# then count to 10 and turn your ms28 drive on
# the pc will flash the firmware to the drive (it will show the 4 banks being flashed
