I Messed Up My Benq- Can I Buy A Samsung?
« on: February 02, 2020, 10:15:00 PM »

Just as i said, i have broken my drive. Is it going to be easy for me to buy a samsung online and pop it into my xbox? I found a drive online, that is a 360 replacement drive. Any complications with this?

should not be much of a problem as long as you got the DVD Drive Key from the BENQ drive so that you can spoof the Sammy or whatever other new drive you buy with the old DVD Drive Key from the BENQ.

Now if you dont have the drive key, and the BENQ is toast and you cant get it from there, then enjoy your EXPENSIVE and prone to RROD/Overheating new media player  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Yes the orig.bin contains the key. Open it with the latest Firmware Toolbox and make sure it has your valid key.

What did you do to brick your drive? It is not an easy thing to do.

word of advice. If that orig.bin contains your drive key BACK IT UP!!!!

ok, well there are alot of conflicting guides, and tutorials, lol- i soldered a swich on, the way it was suggested for the benq drive. Then i found a tut that said i didnt need a swich, i made a boot usb, saved my orig.bin - booted dosflash16 off the usb, i read it fine, i erased it fine, then when i tried to write it i kept getting 52982 errors or something. Then i kinda messed up the trace and im not having any luck with a repair solder job lol it wont stick to the board and i seemed to be makin it worse and gave up. How will i know if the key is on it or not i have the orig.bin saved like a good boy. lol.   Benq might not be wasted totally. but i got frustrated with tons of conflicting guides and suggestions. i got so close. but yet so far. lol

well if you have the orig.bin you are safe. you can extract the key from it and buy a replacement samsung drive for like $40.
