Pretty decent deal there with the bonuses, and usually he knows his stuff (well, aside from proper english on the front page at any rate.) Do your research if you are going to order from foundmy though, especially if you are on any type of timetable towards actually getting the stuff in hand - if I was even remotely considering such a product I'd not pre-order based on the current info.

No where does it say the latest lite-ons will be plug and play with this product - those "cut" (pretty tough to cut something when that consists of basically not putting on a 0ohm resistor at flow time) leads still likely have to be bridged meaning disassembly in the least, there are other fairly simple ways around soldering in such cases though. (thinking something like xbox D0 or lpc rebuild methods with the rigid springsteel-ish wires.)

Sorry I misunderstood what he was telling me. Still requires a bit of soldering.

all these cheapskates hate on this guy that actually does something...

I would like to see you make something like this for ~45$USD

Most of you are so stupid.... I am not telling you that I am Einstein but I don't hate on people that try to help.

this tool actually looks pretty neat for the novice person.  only 2 small points to solder on the dvrive then ya can close it back up and use this tool that does everything auto.  Not bad for the 45 bucks to me since it does what it does.

You're extremely naive. They're not doing this to help anybody, they're doing this to MAKE MONEY. They have this crap mass produced in china for pennies and then turn around and charge you $45. That's not helping the community, that's fleecing it.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

No comment... just dont waste your money on something you can build by yourself for a few bucks...

Seems pretty fair to me i dont have serial on my pc and i would have bought a connectivity kit to save having to open my xbox everytime i needed to grab a key for someone and id make this back after 2-3 mods for people but if your only using it for your own xbox then you could complain about the price

The 2 small points are the hardest part. If you can manage to solder the 2 small points, then you don't need this tool.

Im buying a 360 this week. The 360 arcade package is very cheep, but it comes with the lite-on. Is it stupid to buy it? Is there eventually gonna be real firmware hack for this drive? I mostly want the 360 as a media player but it would be fun to play games now and then.

So my question is this: Can you be shure that the lite-on is gonna be fully hacked in time?  Or should I buy a used one with that costs the same with a different DVD?

But then is the bigger risk of ring of fire to that im worried about with the older 360's....

Nobody knows if and when there will be a hack for the liteon. It may happen or it may not.

Your best bet is to just buy a new liteone 360 extract the key and install a $40 Samsung. Then if and when a hack becomes available you will have your liteon as a backup drive.

Use a £5 converter, not a £30 one (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Isnt it possible for MS to detect this though or is it like this for any dvd drive that is spoofed.  I thought there was something about the SS generation
