I have been busy today flashing 6 Hitachi 79 drives. All done like normal but one.
I have a Hitachi 79 drive here that will disable any sata chipset it gets plugged into. I am able to get it into mode b using slax however when it boots into windows the drive never shows up. Upon closer inspection I notice that the sata controller it is plugged into is showing that it cant be started in device manager. I try to disable it and enable it and every time it shows as cant be started.
Now if I unplug the drive and boot into windows the sata controller shows up as normal. So I figured in the off chance the controller was going bad I would plug in one of my Via 6421 controller boards. Both controller boards would do the same as the Intel chipset on the mainboard. It would show as unable to start in windows.
After spending a couple hours on this one picky drive I moved on and did 2 other Hitachi 79 drives without any problems. I am now back working on this picky drive but almost at wits end.
Over the years I have done so many 360s that I have long since lost count and I thought I have seen and come across every possible problem that there can be. But this is something that has me at a loss to understand.
Anyone else ever come across this problem?
