Thhis is because what podger has posted was from his notes.

The command is:

79unlock X

X = Drive letter

not unlock79 wink.gif

Nothing, thats it unlocked.

It says in Podgers OP that it will error out regardless.

I have read the thread...  I still don't understand what is temporary...  Does this essentially replace something like the Maximus 79 Passkey without soldering and taking apart the drive?

That's exactly what it does.

If I get a chance tomorrow I'll sort out a screenshot tutorial for doing this.

A couple of tips:

1 - I find VLC media player the best to use for step 4, you can double click the play button to do play/pause quick enough. Available free from www.videolan.org

2 - You need to insert a 360 game or DVD before step 8, just like if you were using a passkey.

Going to be trying this today for sure!  I have had a useless 79 laying around for no reason.  This is an amazing step, now everything is flashable except for the rom based Liteons!
