Ok, I finally received my Hitachi 47DJ from overseas (not used). Also, I can successfully get it into modeb with 1K resistor.
However, when I put the drive into modeb and then boot up into windows, the drive never shows up in device manager. I have tried almost everything. The only thing that happens is a yellow exclamation point appears next to my VIA SATA RAID controller and it says "Device Cannot Start CODE:10" or something like that. I have tried both SATA ports to no avail.
Another funny thing is my Toshiba-Samsung drive will not flash anymore either. Now I did uninstall and then reinstall my SATA drivers, I think this may be the problem as when windows installs them automatically it installs the wrong drivers I have to do it manually to get the correct drivers (VIA8237).
But, the Hitachi drive isn't detected in BIOS either. I haven't tried the TS drive yet but that one always showed up in bios before.
A few days ago I was messing with the HDD and the connectivity kit when it was accidentally plugged in to the hard drive backwards and it fried my adaptor. Could this have sent bad voltage into my SATA ports on the my pc mobo? Could be, but to counter-act that theory the Toshiba-Samsung drive stopped being flashable BEFORE I frizzled the HDD adaptor, I didn't yet have the hitachi then.
Anybody have any suggestions? I have bills to pay and dont have the money right now to buy another SATA card so I will get back to it and let you know if I have any success.
There has got to be a way to make it work though, and I am tired of ppl having problems and then just passing it off as "Oh it's not compatible". Maybe it's not, but maybe it is and there is something I am overlooking. So HELP!
