Does it have to be a different program to flash the hitachi?  Or could you use MTKflash once it's in modeb like the TS drives?

Also, to patch the hitachi extreme firmware with Hexedit would the drive key be copied to the same memory area (blocks $4000-$4200)?

STOP

Hitachis cant be done with MTKFlash as:

1) the f.w is patched, not re-written
2) MTKFlash doesnt support it

Use a decent guide (Toolbox's guide for noobs)

Read it 100x then ask questions, then think about modding it.

Read this tutorial before going any farther.

Yeah I have read most of the tutorials already as I have already flashed ms25 drive no problem.  I know what you have to do to flash the hitachi I was just curious as to why it had to be done that way.

My hitachi arrives this week, can't wait.

Had to be done in what way? There is no need to hex edit anything anymore.

Are you sure you read the new tutorial? Seems to me you are a couple years behind.

Well I could be, I'll have to re-read that tut above.  I already have my drive key.

Also the ones I have read were for all drives and since I have an ms25 and ms28 I always kinda just skimmed over the hitachi parts.  I'll go back and re-read.

Yeah in the tutorial above it doesn't say how to flash a hitachi if you previously had a Toshiba-Samsung and already have the drive key.

I have the new hacked firmware for hitachi and I have a text file with my drive key in hex.  How do import my key and flash it?

Read the firmware from your Hitachi drive using Firmware Toolbox. Then replace the current key with your original one. Then go to tools and go to spoof firmware. You will need to spoof the firmware to whatever drive you are replacing. Then run the smart hack patcher if you want to play backups. Now write the firmware to the drive and your done.

Ok, this was what I am looking for.  So you use the firmware toolbox.  I dl'ed that from xbins the other day.
Alright if I use that to patch it will it be able to play extreme backups?  I have the extreme versions of firmware dl'ed from xbins could the toolbox be used to flash with the extreme?
Oh yeah I already have all necessary tools to get it into modeB via slax or crossed wires.

Oh yeah it's a Hitachi 47DJ is it compatible with Firmware Toolbox?

Alright I was just wondering cause I was looking at these other programs to flash hitachis and they were only compatible with the 78FK, you had to dl another version to get it to work with the 49, and an even older version for the 47 drives.

Damn hitachis are a pain in the ass.  Maybe I should have just bought another ms25 they are so easy and simple to flash.
