Is this the correct way?

1) Put the orig.bin extracted from my Benq drive in the same directory with MS28 iXtreme firmware
2) Run the 'Make iXtreme firmware.cmd'
3) Put the newly created "ix14.bin" on iPrep-ed USB disk under the backup->serial folder as Sam-CFW.bin
4) Boot with USB disk
5) use fSam to flash

Yes, thats correct.

Try reading Textbook's tutorial on flashing an MS28 in lieu of step 4 and 5.

I am also interested in replacing my benq with a samsung. I recently (about a week ago) flashed my benq with fw 1.41 using textbook's tutorial as a guide.

I still have all the data on the flashdrive i used to flash my benq, but i dont see a orig.bin file in the flash. Where/ how do i get this orig.bin file

ps. this was my first fw flash

thx in advance

It will be called BenQ-OFW.bin and be located in /backups/serial7/serial5/ (the 1234567 12345 wink.gif)

Rename it Orig.bin

I have all the firmware ready on the usb stick. Now I'm using a nforce4 chipset to flash it... which works perfect with the benq's but have never done the samsung. Upon searching around the internet it may not work for the MS28. So is it ok to put in the samsung drive and just try and read the firmware first with either dben or dsam command?

Also, does it matter that the MS28 drive I have already has older ixtreme on it (from a dead xbox)?

Thanks

You don't need to dump Samsung's firmware, since you're spoofing it as a Benq.

Just flash your spoofed firmware to it.

But will I be able to properly flash it with an nforce4 chipset (Asus A8N-E MB)? Or do I need to track down a via sata card...if so, know a good online store that ships to Canada?
