Hitachi 0047dh Not Going Into Modeb
« on: June 07, 2008, 04:26:00 PM »

Everytime I load the Slax CD, it gets stuck at this line:

ata1: soft resetting port

and then just keeps repeating itself with a few more lines. I'm using a VIA 6421 card, with which I've flashed plenty of Sammys, Benqs, and Hitachis (although I've never flashed a 0047DH). Any help?

47's don't really work with Via6421.... You'll need to try a different sata chipset, most of the others work, Intel, Nforce4 and SIL all work. I use a USB-2-SATA, works every time

Ok, even with that error, it's still going into ModeB and showing all the signs that it is (two presses to open/close, opens back up automatically). Now I have a another problem. When I go to boot into Windows, the loading bar freezes. To stop this, I repeatedly open/close the DVD drive, and every once in a while, it'll boot into Windows. The problem is, sometime Windows will recognize it, but it will show up in the device manager as having an error, making it unflashable. When Windows recognizes it without any errors, when I attempt to look at its properties in device manager, or eject it via My Computer, Windows becomes unresponsive. If I try to flash it (run FLASHIX.bat) without doing any of that, it'll ask me to put the name for the folder, but won't do anything else after that, there will just be a blinking cursor. Any help? Thanks in advance.

I wasn't joking, try a different controller
