« on: May 30, 2008, 12:57:00 PM »

well i went to flash my ms28 and it read the f/w fine thn when i went to flash it it said
failed 00% and that was it, now the drive does nothing at all
the green ligh in the midle of the ring that shows the power, flashes fast

It's almost impossible to brick you Sammy, unlees you plug it in wrong... You should first try Mtkflash again without doing all the 10 sec trick stuff, as it no in a bad flash state.... just say yes to the resend question... After that you should give dosflash a whirl, it can be more successful in these case... Just remove your other CD/DVD and hard drives and typre dosflash at the dos prompt and it should at least see the drive in auto mode

dude dont buy new drive no need at all
your drive now has no firmware thats why it blink..
anyways you said you have ms28..what method you used? switch?
if switch do the following step:
1- power on your pc.
2- ofcourse you should have a floppy and all ( personally recommand mtkflash ), boot from the floopy.
3- write mtkflash w /m mod.bin, then click enter.
4- once hitting enter, few option will come..you should know which one is yours(DONT CHOOSE YOURS YET).
5- power you 360 ( pc will not detect your drive since bad flash ), after powering on your 360..put your swtich off.
6- choose your option from step 4 and click enter, and count one or two seconds then hit your swtich to on.
- drive should write without any problem. if didnt do step 5 & 6 again.

cheers

i had the same problem

used iprep to fix

booted up like normal with a spare sata dvd cdrw drive...doesnt matter what one
when i cut power for the 10 sec trick i plugged in the m28 instead of the dvd cdrw and it flashed
if it doesnt work the first time try a couple times cause timing was the key

if you cant get it i'll flash it for you. i live in ct

Dosflash is primarily what we use for Benq drives..... It comes with iPrep also.... It's very powerful and seems to be more successful at discoverying drive in some case... It also will works with any other drive that use the mediatek chipset like your kreon or sammys etc.... It's important to remove the other CD/DVD if you use auto mode as you could very easily corrupt those by accident...
