Help With Ms28
« on: May 28, 2008, 03:37:00 PM »

hi,
   here's the story so far.
1. bought an xbox with 2 red lights.managed to fix this but then got the E65 error.
2. tried to dsam the drive with iprep (wouldnt do the 10sec trick had to leave it on for it to read)but got an error message.i think inside the sam-ofw it has the dvd key(about 32 letters n numbers)
3.now the xbox boots up into the main screen but the dvd drive has no life.

is my drive bricked? is there anyway of checking the drive in windows to make sure it still works? is it worth buying a new drive or i can get just the pcb board of ebay for about £10. not sure what to do.....

any help grately appreciated - phil

It sounds like you got screwed. If the drive is dead and does not contain a valid original firmware or drive key that matches the key on the mainboard then you will need to try and get the key from the person you bought the console from.
