I am not understanding what you are asking.  you want to replace a Benq Drive with a hitachi?

If this is what you want to do you can but you will need to dump the firmware from the Benq Drive and then use firmware toolbox to replace the Key on the hitachi depending on what ver of hitachi it is.

We will need more details, like what model the drives are.   Plus you need to backup all your drive keys for each console before flashing anything.

yea their the GDR-3120L Xbox 360 DVD-ROM Drive Ver. 59 one already has the firmware hack on it the other is still virgin I don't want to risk screwing up the Benq by tring to write back so I want to use the hitachi backup instead I have two why not .

In order to dump/flash the Benq to get the key you wil need a Via 6421 or a Nforce 4 chipset on you motherboard in or to soft unlock it first.... If you do sucessfully dump the benq the flashing is just a complete doddle after that, just why bother with the Hitachi.... Also, the Benq is more like the Samsung and has a Mediatek chipset, which means it virtually un-brickable relative to a Hitachi that is...

i think it was supposed to say 'in order to soft unlock it first'. using a VIA or nForce is soft unlocking it as the software puts the drive in recovery mode, whereas you can use a different SATA chipset, but you will have to solder a switch to the TSOP to momentarily cut the power to the chip to put it in recovery mode, which is a hardware unlock.

did the old PC have a PCI VIA sata card or was it an onboard chipset? if it was a PCI card, you can plug it into your current PC pretty easily.

Different dos software (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Search for DOSFLASH!

BTW, if I were you, i would modify the BenQ instead of using that crappy hitachi in the new xbox!

Benq drives read better and are more quiet then those hitachi's!
