« on: May 26, 2008, 01:23:00 PM »

So I have a Hitachi v0078 and this drive is really messed up (i snapped the disc tray off) and to rather mess with fixing it, can i just remove tsop from my hitachi and plug that into a new GDR-3120L ?, Will this work ?

That would only work if the new drive is a 78 or 79.. However you could just swap out the PCB.... The Pcb will work seemlesly on any rev of Hitachi... It may be a tiny bit tight on a pre 78 as those models used a slightly thinner pcb but you are only talking 0.045in -> 0.032in....
