I'm not very active on this forum, I only try to stay updated by reading topics sometimes...
But now I have a problem which seem very odd, I'll try to explain and hopefully we can come to a conclusion. It was some a time ago when I bought my VIA VT6421A SATA controller card and now it won't work. When I try to read the firmware from a Samsung/BenQ-drive, the driver status never changes from 0x7F which it should when you power on the drive.
This has happened to me the last three times, and I've flashed many times before. Before my last attempts on flashing I might have reinstalled Windows a few times and maybe updated the VIA SATA driver, which shouldn't affect the flashing process. I've also bought a new USB Pen-drive, which is a SanDisk Micro Cruzer 1.0 GB (uninstalled U3), used for booting into console environment.
These are the applications/versions I use:
iPrep 006.1
DosFlash 1.4Beta
BenQ iXtreme 1.41
VIA SATA driver - 5.40a
I can't remember if I've updated the BIOS on my MB. In Windows the name of my card is not what it used to be when I installed the driver, it now reads "VIA RAID Controller - 3249". Earlier it read something with "VIA RAID VT6421 Controller". When I uninstall the VIA SATA driver, Windows automatically reinstalls it's own driver for this card, so I never get the chanse to install my own.
I don't know if I should use "Patch MTKFlash" in iPrep...
Sorry for being slightly new to this, it could be many factors affecting why I can't flash. You should keep in mind that I execute this line when trying to read the firmware (last time on a BenQ VAD6038):
DosFlash r AC00 1 a0 1 4 original.bin 0
I resend the command until response, and drive status stays at: 0x7F whatever I do...
As far as I can recall I know that my procedures is the same, I've done this many times but now it refuses to work. Please help...
