I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but thought it might be one of the more likely.
Anyways, I just fried a MS-28 board when I plugged in the power cable, and one of the pins (the upper right most one if you're looking at it from the back) got bent without me knowing. With my luck, I did not have a copy of the firmware.
So, I'm considering between finding someone to extract the DVD drive key, or just getting an external programmer, and figuring out how to do it on my own, since I work on a lot of 360's and accidents happen (eg. today I had the flu, and this guy insisted on coming at 10pm when I'm half asleep. If he had've just waited for tomorrow, this whole thing would never have happened).
So could anyone please give me an idea as to how difficult it would be to learn how to obtain the drive key in this fashion? I know that I'm probably seeming fairly incompetent by bricking the drive in the first place (believe me, I do feel dumb, but again this only happened because I was somewhat distracted and in a hurry), so some of you will probably discredit my ability based on that. I don't want to learn all the in's and out's of using an external programmer, etc, I just want to learn how to specifically to use one in this context. So, with that said, is it even remotely feasible? Are there any decent tutorials or resources that anyone could suggest?
Also, I do have a thread up in the B/S/T forum, but if any of you capable individuals want to PM me to let me know how much you charge for this service (preferably as close to Toronto, Canada as possible to save shipping costs), I'd be appreciative.
