I Bought An Ms25 Drive, But My Pc Reads It As An Ms28
« on: February 03, 2020, 03:20:00 PM »

I tried using the Bad Flash method, and when I turned my 360 back on, Nothing happened.

I want to know if I'm doing something wrong and if there's a way to get it to work properly.

Give more info on the exact problem you're having here and what all you've tried.

If the drive is marked as an ms25 but has to be dumped like an ms28 then it's an ms28. I bought one awhile back from eBay that was listed as an ms25, even had an ms25 label on it, but it was ms28 really, had to dump it with the bad flash method and checked the FW with FwTb, ms28.

I've used the Textbook tutorial on how to flash the drives.

I can't boot from a USB or Floppy, so I used the NTFSCD method.

I followed the instructions for an ms25 Model, and it didn't work.

And I kept getting a message saying port e400 (or something like that, as I don't remember the exact message).

I later realized that the drive was an ms28 and I've been trying to use the Bad Flash method, but I don't get anything.

Also, I'm installing this onto a Hitachi Motherboard, so I spoofed the firmware beforehand.

I looked at the video for the Bad Flash Method, and I waited 10 seconds like it shows in the video, but when I turned my 360 back on, nothing happened.

If you don't have a Via SATA chipset it's not going to work, the ms28 has to have a Via SATA chipset. Also you don't have to wait 10 seconds, 2~4 seconds is more than enough.

Try dosflash, I can even flash ms28 with non VIA Chipset (nForce 3) and it works every time. With mtkflash i had a lot of problems (even with VIA Chipset).

So, I can use this in Place of MTKFlash?

As in, I still use iprep and firmtool?

Or does it require a different method?

Get a Via SATA PCI card, they're like $15~$20 online.

i got my VIA sata card for 12$ including shipping. there cheap and will do you a world of good

one reason why a drive may need to be treated as a ms28 can be that is has been flashed before. Xtreme 3.x and higher as well as the iXtreme firmware is based off MS28 firmware
