Hi. I think my flashed ms25 samsung drive is still working fine..but the motherboard is dead. I am not getting any display on the tv....    Can I buy a new 360 and swap my flashed ms25 drive with the new 360's drive and will it work on that new 360?  My 360 is dead...such a sad day!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

yes you can do that you will just need to get the DVD Key from the new 360 and inject it into your ms25's firmware and reflash it.

what happens if the new drive is a haitaci drive? does it matter what drive the new one is?  I can flashed samsung drives on my own...but I have never done haitaci drives before.   I don't think I will be able to find another samsung drive these days.

Hey buddy...is that a guide out there on how to do what you just said? Thank you so much... maybe all hope is not lost!   I was going to go kill myself when my 360 died!  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

it's all easy.  what ver is the hitachi drive in your new 360?  if it is anything except a v79 you will be fine.  you just use windows and get firmware toolbox to read the firmware and grab the key.  then open the samsung firmware inject your key hit replace then spoof the samsung firmware to look like the hitachi version you are replacing and then flash like you normally would.   Yes the link on my sig will help you greatly!

**Make sure to keep a backup of the key that was on your MS25 drive so that if you want to sell or trade or try to fix that board you will have to key to go with it!

Antman1....I got the money now......I can't seem to find a samsung core 360 package anywhere? I think I will have to buy a premium package and get a Samsung ms28 to swap with.  I just got a question for you....what motherboard drive can't I swap a ms25 drive with?  Can I swap a ms25 drive to any 360 console motherboard?   I only have the pc sata that I used to flashed my ms25 drive with.   I have not flashed any other drive besides the ms25. I think I can flash a ms28.   But I don't think I have the tools to flashed any of the haitaci or the new benq drives.

Any advice you have for me? I have a broker 360 ms25 motherboard..but the drive is still good.  I am planning to go buy a new 360 to swap with.

you can do it with any drive, but if your unfortunate enough to get the hitachi 79 you will have to solder a chip on it which can be complicated if you dont know how to solder, but if your getting a new xbox then there is no reason to put ur old flashed drive in it you might as well just flash the drive in the new xbox

Cold Turkey......I only have the pci sata to flash Samsung drives i think.  I have only flashed a ms25 before.  I think I can do a ms28...but the hitachi drives seems like they would be hard. I don't have the tools for the hitachi drives.  I kinda trying to save money too.  I also have a hard time finding samsung drives.

if it does samsungs it should do hitachis, your thinking of the ones the only do hitachi's , as far i am aware there are no sata cards that just do samsungs, but i've been out of the loop for a while

i wouldn't get a used console it could have the same or similar problem soon after you get it and if your looking for a new arcade (the new core) with a samsung don't waste your time, M$ hasn't put a samsung in a new 360 since last summer.

what exactly is the problem with your console?, do you have an on screen error or just no video? do you get audio?

if you get a brand new console its going to be either a benq (alot like samsung) or a Hitachi 79 (which you will need a passkey for or you can send it to someone (like me) that will revert it to a 78 or just pull the key), in either case your current sata chipset (assuming its a via) should work and you wouldn't need to purchase anything extra to flash the benq or Hitachi (excluding the passkey if you took that route).

Grim187...I bought the via chipset that was required to flashed the ms25 and 28 I think.  Can I ask you a question? With the haitachi drives...besides the 79 I think.....can you just used the slacks boot disc to flashed it?  I know that you have to solder one of the kinds of hatitach drives?   Which haitaci drives don't you need to do anything extra or have any extra equipment to flashed?

Grim187...my flashed samsung ms25 over heated or something I think. I played dead rising for like 8 hours straight and then 8 hours straight the next day. I get a black screen with no video...it's not the black screen of death though.   The system and everything boots fine..it just has no video.   I tired a new A/V cable and what not. I don't know what else to do with it. I was think of swaping the ms25 drive into a haitachi motherboard beside I am afraid of flashing haitachi drives.

My BenQ drive wont any backup at 12x, or burned disc's at all.  I knocked it down to 8x and everything was fine for while, then it wouldn't read my backups again, so i lowered it to 5x, that worked for a few days, dropped it to 2x with no luck.  Flashed the original firmware back and it worked for about another week and then the laser died and it would read anything.

Got a "refurbished by Inteliso1" ts-h943 ms25 from llamma.com, always loved my samsung with my xbox 1, hope these are just as reliable.  I will be installing this tonight, hope it works. smile.gif
