Benq Flashing Problems
« on: May 05, 2008, 02:48:00 PM »

I have a Benq drive and Intel ICH8 SATA. My problem is that ive soldered the switch on (yes the traces are cut and soldered properly... checked with volt meter) and when i dump the fw it reads it gets the 0x73 status but the fw dump is always invalid. No matter whether i dump with dosflash, iprep or dosflash in windows i always get the same result.. INVALID BIN... but the bin is 256k.. also the name of the flash in dosflash is MXIC(MX25L2005) instead of the MX25L2005 3.3v... and the datasum is always different..Ive read everywhere and cannot find a solution... help please..

I never cut any traces on the last 4 I did. I just followed the textbook and used Iprep with the newest benq firmware 1.4.
What I would do is read this post first: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?sho...p;#entry4269434

Then decide on what you want to do. If it were me I would put everything back to normal and get a VIA 6421 card if my chipset didn't work.

Im aware of the VIA chipset solution.. but im a poor student so I have to make this work... It reads and dumps the fw no problem but toolbox says invalid... now i opened it up with hex editor and the fw version says 64931C now my sticker says 64930c. could that be an issue?
