Hi all i brought a 47dl Hitachi drive off ebay and was told it had firmware on it to backup games.
I want to install this into my elite because my samsung drives tray gets stuck all the time.

I have a problem getting the drive recognised in windows using a via 6421 card the good one(works on samsungs etc)

I have tryied slax and with tray open on bootup, also shorted those pins aswell

Not luck drive funcitions fine read dvds movies when in console

Any Ideas

Hitachi 47 drives can be very picky getting modeb on VIA cards, beleive me ive been there.
Some will go into modeb easily some wont, ive tried VIA6421 & VIA8237

I now do these drives on my SIL3114 chipset to save time fannying about.

I might be wrong but i was always under the impression that only samsung drives could use the 0800 firmware to backup games. as i said i might be wrong, im not sure as i have a Kreon drive.

The 47's have issues with Via6421... I have one and it never works... I use a USB 2 SATA and it works every time... a SIL 3112 will also do the trick, just don't use near a 78/79 it will fuck it up...

thanks buddy all going now put in my 3112 card now have hitachi in elite using my samsung for my backups
