Dosflash 32 With Ms-25-advice On Spoofing
« on: April 27, 2008, 12:25:00 AM »

Hi and thx for reading...

Quick question, just got a newish 3600 after my oldhitachi 59dj went balls up...

So, I am using dosflash 32 in windows, and I can read and patch my orig firmware no problem at all, the question is, when I patch my hacked firmware, it asks if I want to spoof it as an ms-28, should I?

And if yes, what are the benefits?

Tried to search but didn't find anything.

Thx again.

Just been reading up again, is it because the firmware is based on ms-28 firmware, so if i go online then ms won't be able to detect it?

Thx again?

Yes mate, I am using ixtreme 1.4 8x

No. To the best of our knowledge, as of now, Microsoft can't detect iExtreme firmware.

Actually, the console will detect if you have the wrong drive/rev installed and you will get E66...

Except in the case where it's a newer rev of firmware i.e. if you install a 79 in a system that had a 59 you won't get E66 OR a MS28 in a system with a MS25 originally.....

If the wrong drive gives E66 then the console absolutely can detect if you have the drive model/fw rev....

It's a strongly held belief that going on live without your drive spoofed is likely to get you banned...

As a MS25 that suddenly becomes a MS28 could definately imply you have modded the drive...

Thanks for the info guys, so it's best that I left it unspoofed then, an ms-25 as an ms-25..

Not too bothered about live since it is in my bedroom as a spare, but i'll give it a try and see what happens (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Sorry for the questions, been out of teh scene for a year or so, takes a while for teh old brain to catch up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

No, not quite.... If you modded it, the iXtreme has made it a MS28 as iXtreme is based on MS28 code....

As such, if the drive was running MS25 code before you touched it.. It should be spoofed back to an MS25.... If you had used iPrep that includes firmtool this would be done for you automatically.

Other things to consider, if you console has been to a M$ repair centre the MS25 could have been upgraded to MS28 code, in this case the spoof back to MS25 would cause E66.....

To be sure, open your Orig.bin in Fw toolbox and see what it says... If it's MS25 then you need to spoof...

Thanks for the great replies.

It is indeed an ms-25, so spoofing I shall go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Thanks again...
