What's with the MS28.... If it's just Laser/motor/tray assembly etc... you can just swap the PCB's, the mechanicals are identical.....

This error means key is wrong......

Firstly, What was/is wrong with the MS28..... It's PCB should have your key on it... This needs to stay with the 360....

If you put the MS25 PCB on the MS28 drive then key will be wrong.....

Only work if you put MS28 pcb on the MS25 drive.... say if the MS28 laser was dead

Not good.... Did you ever mod the console.... Could the key have been changed.... Are you using originals or backups....

the ms28 drive was working up til about a week or so ago then just stopped reading any discs orig or backups then just went, so key should be ok on it but it must have corrupted somehow, whats the chances of gettin the key off the board or how do i check what the key is in the fware file?

do you think that if i swapped the lasers in the drives it could work usin th eold fware file?

I read recently, that sometimes a dirty laser will stop the drive seeing layer 2 where the ss.bin is stored, this can cause that type of error....

Chips don;t magically become corrupt or change...

You have a problem mechanically with the MS28 and / or MS25 drives.

You can try rubberband fixes... check the magnetic spindle.. tweak the pots etc..

No definately not..... If your key is wrong, playing DVD's is all it will do.... In all of this you are assuming that the ms25 is good, it may not be..

i think its safe to assume that the ms25 is ok as its brand new!, im now sittin here stumped as i have 2 drives none of which work and one of which is brand new, both will play copy and orig dvd movies but games (backups) put in 360 console and (originals) same error message. Help!!!! dunno what to do now, think my only saving grace would be to get some kind person to tell me how to find key from fware file and then get a ms25 clean dump from somewhere and inject my key (as i dont have orig fware only hacked.

It's extremely unlikely that the MS25 is new, they haven't be manufactured since 2006....
