New Lite-on Drive Found Worldwide
« Reply #90 on: April 22, 2008, 11:12:00 PM »

Looks like the starting point for these drives are April. Could March be the end of the line for BenQ drives? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

If you haven't sent in your broken 360 to MS yet I suggest people do so if you don't want one of these drives.

Do you really think Microsoft are that ignorant that they dont download a copy everytime a new one is released and explore it for holes to ban on, then wait for a big title release for the ban waves. or do you think they just randomly ban people hoping they get someone with a modded firmware and say "sorry" to everyone else? im more inclined to agree with they download and disect. i personally know people who have been banned from xbox live running iXtreme 1.4, 100% stealth disks (supposedly) 100% stealth firmware (supposedly), and backed up from there original copy, done on an xbox360 Toshiba Samsung.

oh and as a side note our current drives havent changed how they work  (you say they dont know whats going on with the firmware hacks) of course they know they designed the firmware and C4E modified it.... then gave it to EVERYONE.

i simply meant that they cant read the firmware, i was under the impression that they cannot read from the drive due to firmguard in c4e firmware, im not even sure if the xbox is capable of reading firmware from the drive, so as far as the firmware goes im pretty sure that they DONT know whats going on with peoples drives. Like you say though if people are downloading games from the net (illegal i know) then thats asking for trouble. I havent been banned (yet) and after speaking to C4E on the efnet there should be nothing (provided you have a true 1:1 with an xbox samsung drive) that MS can detect. Could be wrong, thats just the impression i got, especially with the 1.4 firmware.

NO! not really,  I did not notice - since the OP already posted that he is from AUS...the really important thing is: how long before these drives start appearing in EU or US...

Well of course M$ has people looking at these hacked firms.... But the firm as is is still undetectable. what they are checking is the discs. What i really wanted to comment on tho was you saying u personally know people who been banned using 100% stealth discs and 100% stealth firms well let me clue u in on something. as of now there has been NO bans to any 1.4 users who ONLY used 1.4 so ur personal experiences must fall into that line of things and ALL prior firms are suspect.... the checks m$ performs are there for the world to see in the live logs.....

You might as well ask what next weeks winning Lotto numbers are too (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)  No one knows for sure that it is flashable to start with (probably though), and for sure no one knows how long it will take.  The last BenQ took almost 6 months from release it that helps you.

I just got one back from the repair center too ( In Aus) I agree with the posts a while back, can we start calling it the 'Lite-on' drive, rather than 'the new BenQ'. I think I might start a new "Philips Lite-on DG-16D2S" thread.

I don't think we'll see the top-end hackers working on this until it becomes mainstream. I don't think any good hackers would even have there hands on one if these yet.

Yeah - I agree having the proper name "Philips Lite-On DG-16D2S" to be absolutely sure what you are reading/doing from here on out. As for top hackers having access to one - the OP has mentioned that he will be willing to donate the new drive to C4eva, which is extremely generous! However, where there is a will, there is a way...
