Hi

I've searched and searched but can't find a definitive answer to this.

Can I flash my Benq with a laptop and if so can anyone tell me what SATA card i'll need to buy to plug into my laptop to let me do the flash.

Erm... I honestly don't know if there's a way to do that, but I suppose it's possible.

As far as buying a SATA card for your laptop goes, I don't think that will happen, but it wouldn't to hurt to check to see if you have a build in SATA controller that your laptop hard drive could possibly be using. My friend's Alienware laptop has a VIA VT6421 sata card; so theoretically, I would think he'd be able to pull off flashing a BenQ as you're trying to do.

This actually seems to have the right chipset for the BenQ so i might give it a try

flashing with a PCMIA sata card has been done a few times before. search on the subject and you should find other peoples results. but with the right PCMIA card, you should be able to do it without a hitch.

Useless, all i got was 0xFF errors, it didn't even seem to recognise the drive. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/grr.gif)

I read on the forums here that http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16812156014 this is works the same as the xecuter usb connector. Can anyone confirm this works with hitachi drives?

I very seriously considered going for this card, but in the end went the PC/PCI route. I was looking at it, because it was the only PCMCIA VIA 6421 card I could find!
